Multiple important items are not to be overlooked before the trip, like sunglasses, flashlight, pocket knife and first aid kit. If you forget to bring something on your trip, it is likely to be some important utensil on the list of ten essentials. For some individual items may be in a blind spot in your memory, making you forget it again and again. A list of items to prepare for a backpacking hike can help you avoid any frustrating errors of memory. 1. Extra clothing. Don't just think about the light weight of your backpack to make it comfortable to carry, bring a full set of replacement clothes and keep them dry in case of an emergency. 2. Extra food. Bring more food than you think you might need, at least enough for a full day. 3. Sunglasses. This is important to avoid eyestrain, headaches, and eye damage from bright lights. 4. Pocket knife. A simple pocket knife is a versatile and important tool. 5. Ignition materials. In extremely wet or cold weather, you will need to light a fire to maintain normal body temperature without frostbite. 6. Matches in an airtight, waterproof container. To use a field stove in very wet and cold conditions, make sure the tinder is dry. Either bring a butane gas lighter, which is easy to dry, can be lit several times, and is easy to warm up in subzero air humidity. 7. First aid kit. Prepare a proportionately sized first aid kit for the trip you will be making, including sun protection for most types of outdoor sports. 8. Flashlight and a set of extra batteries. 9. Maps. An up-to-date topographical map is important. 10.Compass or compass. Know how to use it.
