The legendary prototype of He Xiangu came from Wuping, a native of Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, and can be corroborated by the following historical materials. The integration of ancient and modern books? Collection of natural history? Divine canon? The Immortal Department records the information about He Xiangu, which is exactly the same as the record in Fujian Tongzhi: "Xian Gu, father Dalang. Living in Nanyan, Wuping, I am self-sufficient in goods and cakes. Lv Chunyang (Lv Dongbin among the Eight Immortals) saw that he had an immortal quality, so he asked for cakes in the future. Lu feeling, give a peach, and the cloud will become immortal. Xiangu went to the south rock of the valley. "

Qing Kangxi "Wuping County Records? Fang Waizhi records: "He Xiangu, father Dalang. Living in Nan 'anyan. If you are born without eating meat, you will never be suitable for others. Your parents are self-sufficient in goods and cakes. Lv Chunyang, seeing his immortal nature, has been asking for cakes for a long time, so he should do something about it. Lu feeling, give a peach, and the cloud will become immortal. Xiangu then broke through the valley and went to Nanyan. In the second year of Gande in the Northern Song Dynasty (AD 964), Dingguang Buddha arrived at the rock and wanted to open the Dojo. One day, He Xiangu went out to watch the flood, so he took his clothes into the rock and sat cross-legged. Xiangu speaks Dalang (He Xiangu's father He Dalang), so she built a house and a rock as a Buddhist Dojo. Villagers fight to build temples to worship Buddha and buildings to worship fairy goddesses. The most effective, those who are sick and annoyed, scan the image and the bait will heal. " The same county annals "Things and Literature" contains: "In the auspicious symbol room of Song Taizu, Yuezhou Yuzhen watched the disaster, leaving only one column, with the word" Xie Xianhuo "on the side. In the celebration calendar, some people asked He Xiangu, saying: Xie Xian is like a ghost in the thunder department, and he is in charge of fire. Those who heard it were tested in the Taoist scriptures, and it is beneficial to believe that the nun of Qingli is really the daughter of Dalang. "

According to Wu Ping's He Family Tree, "He Xiangu was born in Ding You (AD 937) in the second year of Tianfu in the late Jin Dynasty. Xiangu is young and pure, does not corrode wine, does not eat meat, hides in the rocks, and is not suitable for people. " In the first year of Yuan Ku in Song Zhezong (A.D. 1086), He Xiangu died in the home of Sun Liyilang, the fifth son of He Dalang, Liukeng Natural Village, Ningyang Village, Yanqian Town, Wuping County. He lived to the age of 150, making him the oldest person in Wuping. "Spectrum" contains a cloud: "When Xiangu died, I heard the sound of drums in the air, and a lucky cloud went straight from the bed to the night Han. Everyone was amazed, and naturally the villagers admired it and made a portrait in Xiangu Building." He Xiangu was buried in Ningyanggan Lake Pond in front of the rock.

He Xiangu experienced four dynasties in his life, namely, the late Jin Dynasty, the late Han Dynasty, the late Zhou Dynasty and the Northern Song Dynasty, which is also rare in the history of China.

He Dalang, the father of He Xiangu, died in Renchen (AD 993) in the third year of Song Chunhua, enjoying life 10 1 year. His original wife Huang Yiniang died in Xianping, Song Zhenzong, enjoying life1year. He Xiangu and his parents all enjoy a life of over 100 years, which is also rare in the world. He Xiangu's parents' tomb is also in front of Wupingyan, well preserved, and the inscriptions are faintly discernible, which can be a proof.

Related legends

He Xiangu is one of the Eight Immortals handed down from ancient times. In the old days, he was widely believed by Han people and some ethnic minorities. In addition to the statue of the Eight Immortals Palace in Xi 'an, it enjoys incense in places like Mount Tai and Wangmu Pond. Since the Tang and Song Dynasties, there have been many records about her deeds, second only to Lv Dongbin among the Eight Immortals. However, the origin of this female fairy, which is very human in the legend of the Eight Immortals, is still an open question. According to the theory of "He Xiangu's Birthday" in which there are still temple fairs in modern times, the date of birth of Zengcheng in Guangzhou is the seventh day of March in the summer calendar, while the date of birth of Baxian Palace in Xi 'an is the ninth day of April. The difference of one month before and after is due to the different historical archives.

Record of laymen

According to He Xiangu's book Luo Fu Zhi and As a Mirror of Immortals in Past Dynasties, was the daughter of Hetai in Zengcheng County, Guangzhou during the Tang and Wu Zetian Dynasties. At the age of thirteen, she met a Taoist priest when she went into the mountains to collect tea. The Taoist gave her a peach, and since then, she has never been hungry or thirsty, and she knows how to forgive people. Later, she became an immortal in the daytime between Tang Zhongzong and the Year of the Loong (707-7 10). In today's Zengcheng County, Guangzhou, the legend about He Xiangu is more specific, and there is "physical proof": He Xiangu's real name is He Xiugu, a native of Xingui Township, Xiaolou District, Zengcheng County, and Wu Zetian was born on the seventh day of March in the summer calendar of Tang Dynasty. His father, He Tai, made tofu for a living. Xiugu was smart since she was a child. At the age of fourteen, she was lucky enough to travel here to Lv Dongbin. Lu gave her some mica tablets, from which she could know the fortunes of the world and often visited immortals in Luofu Mountain. After her parents found a husband's family named Feng for her, Xiugu refused to marry, and she threw herself into the well in front of her house on the eighth day of August in Zhongzong Jinglong. Only one shoe was worn when throwing into the well, and the other shoe was left on the well platform. After that, she floated out of the river in Putian, Fujian. It turned out that the well was connected with the river, which was a strange case at that time, so there was a legend that Xiugu had been "immortal". It is said that Xiangu appeared in a small building in her hometown during the Daizong calendar year (766-779). She was seen enjoying the cool under a litchi tree in saionji and hanging a green silk belt on the tree. Now this place is called "Hanging Green Garden", and the fruit of this litchi has a green ribbon, which is Zengcheng's famous "Hanging Green Litchi".

This strange tree is recorded in Qu Dajun's Guangdong New Language and Zengcheng County Records in Qing Dynasty. Later, people built a He Xiangu Temple in Xiaolou, which still exists today. On the gate, there is a couplet: "A thousand years have passed through the Danjing, and a hundred generations have worshipped the ancient temple." Deng Chun's "Lingnan Congshu" quoted the "Taiping Guangji" as saying that Er Nian in Guangzhou, who made shoes as a profession, suddenly went to Luofushan Temple at the age of twenty and often picked bayberries for the temple, but there were no bayberries in Luofushan, so the monks didn't know where these bayberries came from. Four hundred miles north of Luofu Mountain, there is Xunzhou Mountain Temple, in front of which there are Myrica rubra trees, which are surrounded by a large number of ten. Once a monk from Xunzhou Temple came to Luofu Mountain and talked about a fairy coming to their temple to pick plums on a certain day. When the monk heard this, it was the day when He Erniang picked plums for fasting, so everyone knew that she was a "fairy". In Tang Kaiyuan (7 13-74 1), Huang Menshi was ordered to visit He Erniang in Guangzhou, but she suddenly disappeared on her way to Beijing with Huang Menshi and disappeared from the world. Later, some scholars speculated that He Erniang was He Xiangu of Zengcheng. Others think that He Xiangu is a figure in the Song Dynasty, and the notes of scholars in the Song Dynasty, such as Ouyang Xiu's Collection of Ancient Records and Postscript, Wei Tai's Record of Dongxuan, and Zeng Minxing's Duxing Magazine, all contain his deeds. If some people say that He Xiangu was a daughter of Yongzhou in Song Renzong, she met strangers when she was young, and she was given Xiantao (or Yunxianzao). Since then, she has never had any seeds, so she can know the fate. In order to build a temple pavilion, the scholar-officials paid more visits to ask for forgiveness. Zeng Minxing said that he went to He Xiangu Pavilion in Yongzhou to see the portrait of Xian Gu. He Xiangu is a native of Hengshan Mountain, so she can forgive her. Teng Zongliang, the prefect of Baling County, also met her during the Qing Dynasty in Song Renzong (1041-kloc-0/048). According to Ouyang Xiu, "visitors have their own balance. In her later years, Yun Xiangu was thin, her face was black, and she was the first to decline." Later, there was "a recent cloud in Hengzhou:' Fairy is dead, and there is no miraculous difference'". It seems that these two "fairy goddesses" are real folk witches, living in the same era; And Wang Dechen's "History of the Lady" also talked about Teng Zongliang's asking Yongzhou He Xiangu for advice, so Yongzhou Xiangu and Hengzhou Xiangu may be the same person. In The Fairy Mirror of Past Dynasties, it is stated that Lv Dongbin once met the Ho daughter in Lingling, and was lured by the elixir, and then introduced to Zhong Li. From then on, he went to the immortal class to clean the fallen leaves of flat peaches in Langyuan. According to Lingling, Yongzhou was the governing place, so later generations thought that He Xiangu was the prototype of the Eight Immortals. According to the records of Anqing Fu Zhi, Qiyang County Zhi, Fujian Tong Zhi, Zhejiang Tong Zhi and Shexian Zhi quoted in Ancient and Modern Book Integration and Divine Code, there are traces and rumors of local "He Xiangu" in Tongcheng, Qimen, Wuping, Fujian and Changhua, Anhui. For example, He Xiangu in Fujian Tongzhi is the daughter of He Dalang, a seller of cakes. When Lv Dongbin saw that she had "fairy quality", she begged her for cakes every day. She was generous with her demands, and Lu was moved, so she gave her a peach and made her an immortal class. This story is completely similar to the story of Lv Dongbin accepting He Xiangu as an apprentice in folklore, except that the location was changed from Guangdong to Fujian (see the book "The Meeting of the Eight Immortals"); In the legend of He Xiangu in Guangdong, there is a saying that Xiangu visited the immortals in Guangzhou and ascended the immortals in Fujian. Therefore, some people suspect that these two "fairy goddesses" are the same person. However, He Xiangu, recorded in Zhejiang Tongzhi and Shexian Zhi, was born in the Yuan You period of northern Song Zhezong (1086- 1094). If Xiangu died of old age in Hengzhou as recorded by Ouyang Xiu, she was obviously another Xiangu.

Taoist classics

In addition to the secular records, there are also Taoist classics.

Some clues of He Xiangu (2 1 Zhang): For example, Lv Zuzhi said that Lv Dongbin was a nun Zhao, and because she was holding a lotus flower, she was homophonic about her surname. The Source Map of Daopu thinks that He Xiangu is the son of Xu Shengchen and his wife. In this way, even the gender of "Xian Gu" has become a problem. However, there is often "Xu Shenweng" but no "He Xiangu" in the plays of the Eight Immortals in the Yuan Dynasty, which is well founded. However, in Lu Zhenren's "A Record of Jiangzhou Wangjiang Pavilion" quoted in "Ancient and Modern Books Integration", there is a statement that "He Xiangu and Guo have been on the stove since I achieved my goal". What should I explain? Thus, even the Taoist views about He Xiangu are quite different. Abundant and divergent information makes ancient and modern scholars struggle to find out the truth about "He Xiangu". As mentioned above, those who believe that Xiangu is a girl in Guangzhou have it, and those who think that Xiangu is a "declining girl" in Yongzhou (or Hengzhou) have it. People in the Tang Dynasty and the Song Dynasty, Lingnan and Hunan, are already entangled, so some people think that He Xiangu in the Eight Immortals is the kneading of these two images, and they take the former as their life story, and the latter as their disciple of Lv Dongbin, but this statement has not been unanimously recognized by the academic circles.

Legend of characters

Statement 1

He Xiangu was born in Lanling (now Changzhou, Jiangsu). According to legend, in the 14th Five-Year Plan, God taught people to eat mica powder, and they were too light to die. Jinglong soared in the daytime. The world is called He Xiangu, and the custom is one of the Eight Immortals. He Xiangu said about her hometown, in addition to Zengcheng in Guangdong, there are many kinds of opinions about Guangxi, Fujian, Zhejiang, Anhui and Hunan. There are different opinions, probably because there is no such person in history.

"The Wonder of the Fairy Buddha" said: He Xiangu is a daughter named He Tai from Zengcheng, Guangzhou. There were six hairs on the top of my head when I was born. When he was sixteen years old, he dreamed that a fairy taught him, "Eating mica powder can make you fit and live forever. "So she followed the fairy's instructions, ate mica, vowed not to marry, and often traveled to and from the valley, hiking like flying. Go out every morning and bring back some wild fruits to her mother at night. After gradually not eating grains, Wu Zetian sent an envoy to summon her to the palace and suddenly disappeared on the way into Beijing. After that, immortals were born by day. In the ninth year of Tang Tianbao, he appeared in the Magu altar, standing in five clouds, and then appeared in Xiaoshilou, Guangzhou.

Song Zengmin's magazine "Awakening Alone" records: "Di Qing passed Yongzhou in his early years when he was fighting for Nannong. He heard that He Xiangu could predict good or bad luck, so he specially asked about the outcome of the war. He Xiangu said:" You don't have to see a thief, but the thief will leave after defeat. "Di Qing didn't believe it at first. Later, Song Jun Pioneer fought with Nan Nong Zhigao's soldiers, but without a chance, Zhigao was defeated and fled to Dali.

He Xiangu often holds a lotus flower.

People who know a little about China's traditional culture will be familiar with the term "Eight Immortals". The so-called "Eight Immortals" refer to eight immortals, namely, Han Zhongli, Zhang Guolao, Tie Guai Li, Cao Guojiu, Lv Dongbin, Han Xiangzi, Lan Caihe and He Xiangu. They are all mortals, and they practiced hard to become immortals. There is a unique woman among the Eight Immortals, that is, He Xiangu. She is like a little red among the Eight Immortals, which makes her particularly eye-catching.

He Xiangu, formerly known as He Qiong, was born in an ordinary peasant family in Lingling in the first year of Kaiyao in Tang Gaozong. Locals said that on the day when He Qiong was born, a bright auspicious purple air hung over Hejia's hut, and a group of cranes danced up and down in the purple air. In a short time, a strong sika deer rushed into Hejia carrying a girl with a pigtail and a red Chinese-style chest covering. At this moment, He gave birth to a chubby baby girl.

Speaking of He Qiong's hometown Lingling, it is a beautiful place with beautiful scenery. According to Records of the Historian, "Shun was buried in Jiuqi in the south of the Yangtze River for Lingling." The sage Shun Di was buried in Jiuwei Mountain in Lingling. Lingling City is located at the confluence of Xiao and Xiang rivers, with Hengshan Mountain in Nanyue in the north and Wuling Mountain in the south. It is the gateway of Chu and Yue. There is a mica mountain in the west of Lingling county, which is rich in five-color mica stone, which is an ancient medicine for seeking immortality; A clear and winding stream runs down from the mountain, which is called mica stream, and He Qiong's family is beside the beautiful mica stream.

He Qiong, who grew up drinking mica water, grew up beautiful and witty. Since she was a child, she likes to play and roam by mica creek alone. At the age of fourteen, she met a white-haired old man with a long beard by the mica stream. The old man asked her about some local landscapes, and He Qiong answered them all wisely. The old man was very happy. He took a fresh flat peach from his backpack and gave it to He Qiong. He Qiong took it, thanked the old man, and then ate the flat peach three times and five times. The old man watched her finish eating, nodded with a big smile and turned around and disappeared. After returning home, He Qiong didn't feel hungry for several days, so she didn't want to eat, but her spirit was stronger than before. A month later, He Qiong met Ling by the mica stream again. This time, the old man took her to Yunmu Mountain and taught her how to collect mica and how to take it. He Qiong, according to his words, eats mica on the mica mountain every day, and gradually feels as light as a swallow, traveling to and from the top of the mountain and walking like a fly. In addition, she can identify and pick all kinds of herbs in the mountains, treat all kinds of diseases for the people nearby, and predict the personnel, so people around her call her "He Xiangu."

The news of He Qiong's immortality spread from one word to another, and spread further and further, and finally reached the ears of Wu Zetian, the imperial official of Beijing.

At that time, Wu Zetian was the queen of Tang Gaozong, but she held the real power of the imperial court. Wu Zetian believed in Buddhism under the influence of her mother since childhood, and when she became a queen, she tried her best to promote Buddhism in the palace and throughout the country, hoping to overwhelm the Taoist momentum respected by the Li and Tang Dynasties, and used some Buddhist scriptures as the theoretical basis for her usurpation of the throne. Buddhism "Faxiangzong" preaches "two emptiness", that is to say, self and everything should be regarded as empty and nothingness, so as to achieve the lofty realm of the integration of all things in the universe and me; In layman's terms, it is to understand with your heart, so that you can forget everything, and then you can soar in the daytime, walk on clouds and live forever. Wu Zetian was very convinced of this. When she heard that there was a He Xiangu in Lingling, she was able to travel freely on the top of the mountain, and she was very interested. She specially sent someone to visit and gave He Xiangu a morning glow suit. He Xiangu accepted the morning glow suit and put it on cheerfully. The people around him heard the news and came from all directions to look at it. I saw He Xiangu's body shining and dazzling, as if he were a fairy; Villagers looked at frightened, involuntarily qi qi knelt on the ground and prostrated themselves before He Xiangu. He Xiangu was quite complacent, but her mother was greatly frightened and thought, "Who dares to marry such a daughter!"

As expected, when He Xiangu was eighteen, her mother earnestly asked the matchmaker to choose a husband for her. Although He Xiangu was as beautiful as flowers, no one dared to marry her because of her great skill. What mother worried, He Xiangu himself as if nothing had happened, all day out of rural Shan Ye, busy collecting herbs to treat people, had a very fulfilling life.

One day, He Xiangu went deep into the dense forest of Mica Mountain to collect herbs, and met two magical people. Among them, there was a lame old man with an iron crutch, a huge wine gourd on his back, and a beggar-like appearance. The other is dressed in a neat blue shirt, holding a medicine hoe and carrying a medicine basket on his shoulder, and his expression is very elegant. Not far in front of He Xiangu, the two men sang and murmured. In a short time, they flew away and suddenly disappeared. These two men were Tie Guai Li and Lan Caihe in the Eight Immortals. He Xiangu paid attention to their appearance, chanting the formula of stealing learning, thinking that he could fly over the valley in Feng Ling like them. Since then, she has often quietly come to the mountains to practice, and her posture has become more and more skilled, and she can fly farther and farther. She used this kind of kung fu to often fly to distant mountains, go back and forth, and bring back some strange mountain fruits for her family to taste. The family felt sweet and delicious after eating them, but they didn't know what kind of fruits they were.

Seeing that she went out early and came back late every day, she was suspicious and asked her where she had been and what she had done. He Xiangu could not beat her mother, so she said that she went to the famous mountain fairyland to talk about Buddhism and Taoism with the immortal Buddha every day. Gradually, the news that He Xiangu was familiar with Buddhism and Taoism spread again. When Wu Zetian heard about it, she sent an envoy to Lingling to get ready for the funeral, and called He Xiangu to Luoyang, the eastern capital, to discuss Buddhism and Taoism. All the officials came to Luoyang city with He Xiangu. While waiting for the boat to cross Luoshui, all of them suddenly disappeared from sight of He Xiangu. The envoys panicked and hurriedly ordered people to look around, but they didn't find any clues. Everyone was so scared that they sat in a daze by the Luohe River. At dusk, He Xiangu flew down in the air and told the emissary in no hurry: "I have gone to the Forbidden Palace to see Tianhou, and you can report back to the DPRK."

The envoys returned to Luoyang Palace in a dubious way. When they inquired, it was sure that He Xiangu had visited Wu Hou that day and had a long talk with her in the palace for half a day, which surprised the envoys.

It is said that He Xiangu talked with Wu Hou about the art of immortality in the palace. She persuaded Wu Hou that to live a long life, we must first achieve lust, silence and see through fame and fortune; Secondly, we should do more good deeds, curb torture, prohibit false waste, implement benevolent policies, and Xiu De will accumulate blessings. At the same time, she also talked about the way of governing the country and keeping the country safe. She must be close to the sages and far away from the villains, and never take a different surname as an heir. What she said was actually very targeted at Wu Hou.

Wu Hou is a wise man. After listening to He Xiangu's reasonable words, she gradually put them into action. Soon, a group of cruel officials such as Lai Junchen were punished by law. Then Di Renjie, the sage, was reused: As for the heir, Wu Hou wanted to make his nephew Wu Chengsi a prince, but under Di Renjie's loyal advice, she followed the advice of Xiangu and gave up her original intention of adopting a different surname. As for abstinence, abstinence, seeing through fame and fortune, Wu Zetian, who has been addicted to lust and power, has never been able to do it, so-called to the point where she is lost.

In order to reward He Xiangu's kindness, Wu Zetian specially ordered the local officials of Lingling to build a magnificent Huixian Pavilion at the Phoenix Terrace in the south of Lingling, as a place where He Xiangu preached the Dharma. After preaching, He Xiangu often sat on the stone steps in front of the museum, peeled off a round fairy fruit, and threw it around casually. Later, litchi trees were planted around the Huixian Museum, and the lychees produced on these trees were all green green lychees. People called them "litchi hangs green on the phoenix platform".

He Xiangu also wrote a poem "Phoenix Terrace":

Phoenix mica is like smallpox, refined into hibiscus and white clouds;

Laughing fanatics have no opinions, and where to find cinnabar.

On the surface, this poem is about the Phoenix Terrace, but in fact, it hides the true meaning of taking food and seeking truth, and the method of taking mica. People say that He Xiangu is a Taoist believer from the characteristics of taking food and practicing; Some people attributed her to a Buddhist disciple according to the ideological content of her sermon. In fact, He Xiangu can be said to be a Taoist and a Buddhist, but not a Taoist and non-Buddhist figure. It has reached the realm of harmony between man and nature. How can earthly Buddhism and Taoism frame her?

One day, He Xiangu was suddenly inspired and wrote a poem entitled "Ma Gufeng":

Ma Gu laughed at me for falling in love with the hubbub of dust, and I was far away from Xianfan Road.

Fly to Cangzhou to get the bright moon, and ride the yellow crane to listen to the flute.

This poem full of fairy rhyme seems to imply some kind of omen. Sure enough, one day in the first year of Tang Zhongzong Jinglong, 26-year-old He Xiangu sat on the Phoenix Platform, looking up at the distant sky, and suddenly saw Tie Guai Li standing in the distant cloud, waving his iron crutch, as if to greet her. Unconsciously, He Xiangu's body like Cai Feng Ran Ran rises, volley, followed by Tie Guai Li. A beaded shoe on her foot fell to the ground at this moment. The next day, a well suddenly appeared where the beaded shoe fell. The well water was clear and sweet, and it smelled like a strange fragrance. The well field around it was shaped like a bow shoe. The local people built a He Xiangu Temple next to the well, and the incense flourished day by day. Because the water in the well was not only cool and thirsty, but also cured all kinds of diseases, it was talked about by people from far and near.

He Xiangu soared in the daytime and became immortal, thus becoming the only red powder among the Eight Immortals, forming a little red among the evergreen trees. After becoming an immortal, He Xiangu was obsessed with the sufferings of the world, and often traveled in the southern area to distribute clouds and rain, eliminate epidemics and save suffering. Anyone who is kind needs her help, just silently pray to the sky, and she can arrive like "timely rain" and give people magical power.

It has been more than 30 years since Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty became an immortal in He Xiangu. After a day of heavy rain, the blue sky was like washing, and people in Lingling saw a colorful auspicious cloud drifting leisurely. He Xiangu stood in the clouds in a sunrise suit, and while people knelt down to worship, a bunch of yellow silk fell from the air to the Phoenix Platform, which read this poem:

Mica creek wins the rooftop, and thousands of trees blossom;

Jade flute blows through Huanglong Cave, so don't lead it across the crane.

Send a message to the Zhang family and the Li family, and the body will be idle;

Penglai's weak water is now clear and shallow, and the ground is covered with flowers to protect the moon.

The fairy has entered Ziwei, and the water town is still slow to look back;

For thousands of years, I left my shoes by the well and said that I knew them with the fairy of Caotang.

The poem contains nostalgia for the scenery of hometown, exhortation to the villagers, and an account of the lonely feelings of the immortal life, persuading mortals to cherish their lives. It's really "everyone says that immortals are good, but immortals have troubles. When advising you to cherish mortals, don't wait for time to disappear!"

Statement 2

He Xiangu, daughter of He Tai in Zengcheng, Guangzhou, Tang Dynasty. According to legend, in the 14th Five-Year Plan, God taught people to eat mica powder, and they were too light to die. Jinglong soared in the daytime. The world is called He Xiangu, and the custom is one of the Eight Immortals.

Statement 3

He Xiangu, formerly known as He Xiugu, was born on the seventh day of February in Wuze Tianchao. Her father runs a tofu mill, and she has been her father's helper since childhood. When she was thirteen or fourteen years old, she went to play in the wild and met Tie Guai Li, Lv Dongbin and Zhang Guolao, who were traveling in the clouds. Three immortals gave her Xiantao, Zizyphus jujuba and mica tablets. Since then, she has never felt hungry again, and can predict the future and know people's fortunes. The villagers built a small building for her and asked her to live there. People often come here to ask her to tell her fortune. Gradually, He Xiugu's name became He Xiangu.

Hanging green litchi

It is said that in order to eat fresh litchi in the south, Emperor Ming of the Tang Dynasty and Yang Guifei ordered all the post stations to deliver litchi at a gallop, so there is an eternal saying that "no one knows it is litchi when riding a princess in the world of mortals". The "Zengcheng hangs green", the king of litchi, is famous all over the world because it is stained with the "fairy spirit" of He Xiangu. In Qu Dajun's "Guangdong New Language" in the early Qing Dynasty, it was said that "hanging green lychees is crisp as pears, and the slurry disappears, so it will remain unchanged for three days". What is unique is that this litchi has a green line mark from the pedicle to the top, so it is called "hanging green". This litchi tree was in an orchard in Zengcheng, Guangdong Province. An old friend, He Xiangu, accidentally came to relieve himself under the litchi tree and hung his green belt on the tree. As a result, the tree was infected with "immortal spirit" and produced "hanging green litchi". Its fruit was delicious and refreshing, and it won the admiration of eaters, and its reputation was immediately spread far and wide. Now, there is an original He Xiangu Temple in Zengcheng, with a well in front of it and a couplet on the door of its temple:

A thousand-year-old trace of Dan well,

One hundred generations of clothes worship the ancients.

According to legend, He Xiangu finally got into Xiandao from this well. When leaving, she left an embroidered shoe on the well platform. Later generations called this well "Ask Fairy Well", which attracted believers from all over the world to worship.
