Source: It is the fruit of Pinellia pinellia, a plant of the Elaeaceae family.
Original form
Pinellia ternata, also known as: jujube tree, camel flower, multi-flowered Elaeagnus.
Deciduous shrub, up to 3 meters high. The branches are spreading, without needles, and the branchlets are reddish brown and densely covered with scales. Leaves are membranous, oval or ovate to ovate-oblong, 2.5 to 6 meters long, 2 to 4 centimeters wide, with short to sharp apex, entire margin, broad wedge-shaped or round base, and early stars on the upper surface. There are hairs and silvery scales, which gradually fall off, and the underside is silvery white with scattered brown scales; the petiole is about 5 to 7 mm long. Flowers are axillary with 1 to 2 flowers, silvery white, perianth tube-shaped, with 4 lobes on the upper part and sparse pubescence on the inner side; 4 stamens; 1 pistil; style glabrous. The fruit is oblong, densely covered with rust-colored scales, red when mature, and 12 to 14 mm long. The flowering period is from April to May. The fruiting period is June.
Habitat distribution is distributed in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan, Hebei, Henan, and Shandong.
Nature and flavor according to the "Handbook of Chinese Herbal Medicine" of Soviet Medicine: light, astringent, warm.
