A good crop that year
Besides rice, the most common cash crops in rural paddy fields are chestnut and lotus root. Under normal circumstances, the yield of chestnut per mu can reach about 5,000 Jin, and the gross profit of an acre of land is about12,000 yuan according to the average price of 2.5 yuan/Jin. Lotus roots can produce about 6,000 Jin each, and the gross profit of one mu of land is about12,000 yuan according to the average price of 2 yuan/Jin. Of course, growing these two crops is more profitable than growing rice, so why are there so many farmers in rural areas unwilling to grow them?

This is because of the input of chestnut and lotus root.

Bigger, more troublesome harvest.

One,

Cultivation of Castanea henryi

Chestnut, also known as water chestnut, water chestnut and water chestnut, is an underground fruit with rich nutrition and the reputation of underground snow lotus. Its seedling raising time is very close to that of rice seedling raising, and it is also a two-stage seedling raising cultivation.

1. Seedling raising

1). the first stage of seedling raising: in March of the lunar calendar, according to the number of 220 seedlings per mu as a parameter, buy large, high-quality and high-yield pear seedlings. First, dig an integral paddy ditch with a width of about1.2m around the nursery, and the water in the ditch is slightly lower than that in the nursery. Keep the soil in the nursery in a thin and sticky state without water accumulation. Then, unpack the bag for packaging the seedlings, clean the roots of the seedlings with clear water, and insert them into the nursery according to the plant spacing of 6*6 cm square. Similar to plastic small arch shed seedling: then insert small arches on both sides, cover with sunshade net in sunny days and cover with film in rainy days to prevent seedlings from getting sick in the rain.

2) The second stage of seedling raising: when the local chestnut seedlings grow to about 30 days, they can be transplanted to the seedling field in April of the lunar calendar. This is mainly to cultivate the tillering rate of Castanea henryi seedlings for transplanting and seedling raising in the field. During the whole field period, about 50 kilograms of compound fertilizer and 6 kilograms of urea were applied per mu to provide nutrition for seedlings.

When transplanting, the roots should be covered with old soil, and the weak and diseased seedlings should be removed, and then transplanted according to the plant spacing of 39*42 cm. Generally, it is more suitable to cultivate tillering seedlings within 20 plants per plant. After 55 ~ 60 days of growth, local chestnut seedlings can be transferred to the field. Of course, attention should be paid to the prevention and control of water, fertilizer and pests during the whole seedling raising period.

3) Field transplanting: Castanea henryi seedlings can be transplanted in the field before and after high temperature in summer after about three months of propagation and growth in the first and second stages. Chestnut is a plant that eats fertilizer very much. If there is fermented pig, cattle and sheep manure, about 3000 kg can be applied per mu. In addition, 80 ~ 90kg of potassium sulfate compound fertilizer should be applied. Planting in shallow water is necessary. When planted, the field looks like water instead of water. When planting and transplanting, the plant spacing can be kept at about 4 1*43 cm, and about 4,200 plants can be planted per mu, so the density should not be too close. It is more appropriate to keep the field depth of about 3 cm after planting.

After chestnut is transplanted into the field, it is necessary not only to do well in water and fertilizer management, but also to do well in pest control. Chestnut is a plant that is afraid of cold. Dig it home before freezing to avoid freezing.

Second,

lotus root

Lotus root is a perennial herb of Nymphaeaceae, and it is a vegetable that grows in the soil. In normal weather, it is planted around Grain Rain and excavated around the first frost. The whole growing period is about seven months. As the saying goes, the lotus root turns over on August 15th. In other words, the lotus root has grown up and can be eaten in the Mid-Autumn Festival. In order to grab high prices, some have already stepped on the market.

Lotus root planting: lotus root planting is much simpler than chestnut planting, and there is no need for two-stage seedling raising. But they have the same characteristics: fat resistance and fast hair growth. Planting lotus roots is also to choose fertile and water-retaining fields. The minimum amount of base fertilizer per mu is about 3000 kg of decomposed chicken and pig cow dung, and potassium sulfate compound fertilizer 100 kg is added. Beat up the mud in the ground with a rotary tiller and bury it in shallow water.

When buried underground, the lotus root buds face upwards,

Lotus buds are like mud. If it is a lotus bud with lotus leaves, be careful not to break the stem to avoid water rot. Because the fruit of lotus root is relatively large, the ability of germination is also very strong. Therefore, it is necessary to plant thinly: it is more appropriate to keep the plant spacing at about 90 ~ 100 cm. In the early stage of lotus root field, shallow water should be used to raise mud, and it is not advisable to circle the water too deep. Water and fertilizer management should be done well during the growth period, and attention should be paid to pest control.

Castanea mollissima and lotus root are both cash crops with quick effect except rice planting in paddy field. In contrast, Castanea henryi has higher requirements for water resources: Castanea henryi is transplanted in the dog days, so it is recommended to plant it carefully in places with poor water resources.
