What are the interesting places in Xiamen?
The best scenic spots in Xiamen are: Gulangyu Island, Xiamen University-Huandao Road, Wanshiyan, Nanputuo Temple, Jimei, Bailudong-Huxi Cave and Hulishan Fort. For other scenic spots, please refer to my other travel notes with the same name. The seashore of Baicheng in Xiamen University is very beautiful, and you can rent bicycles to travel around the island from there. The Huli Mountain Fort charges tickets to 20 yuan, and it is not very interesting for those who lack military knowledge and interest.

Wanshiyan Botanical Garden is actually quite beautiful, but the garden is too big. You must go in the morning to have enough time to enjoy it carefully.

The incense in Nanputuo is very prosperous, and the altar in front of the main hall is full of offerings such as fruits and snacks brought by pilgrims. In the temples I have been to before, the offerings brought by pilgrims can be taken away after the pilgrims knock their heads and read the scriptures. Not here. Looking at this mountain-like offering, I can't help thinking that the monks in this temple really have a good taste. In some temples, there are many futons wrapped in yellow cloth, and many pilgrims kneel on them devoutly to recite scriptures, and kneel for hours. There is a small hole in the back hill of the temple, which is densely filled with Buddha statues invited by pilgrims themselves. I am afraid there are thousands of them, and the scene is quite spectacular. After going around the cave, the ground is full of broken pieces of porcelain or pottery Buddha statues. I can't help but sigh that this custom seems to have lasted for decades, not years.

The architectural style of Jimei University is very tasteful, but it's a pity that there are doormen at the door, so it's easy not to let you in. It's best to find a student ID card and lie that you are going to find a classmate, and then you can go in and see it after registering. If you really can't get in, you can also visit the Dragon Boat Pool. It is said to be a pool, but it is actually a large artificial lake with great boldness of vision, and many egrets spread their wings and fly, which really deserves the reputation of Xiamen's "Ludao". Next to Longzhouchi is Jimei Middle School, which is the most beautiful middle school I have ever seen. The architectural colors of the two teaching buildings are breathtaking.

It takes 3 yuan money to go to the Chelating Garden by motorcycle from Longzhouchi. In fact, it's only 2 or 3 minutes' drive. You just have to walk along the right road from Longzhouchi, which takes about 15 minutes. Besides, the roadside is always the sea, and the scenery is pleasant.

The Chelating Garden charges tickets for 10 yuan, but in fact, the garden is very small, and there is nothing to see except the memorial of Jia Geng, and you can also see it from a distance on the road outside the Chelating Garden. It's better to go to the "Huilaiju" next to Jimei Middle School, where Chen Jiageng's former residence and bronze statue are also there, and it's free.

Bailudong and Huxi Cave are actually temples, and I didn't know until I went there. These two temples are not big, especially Bailudong. I went there on New Year's Day. As a result, apart from the monks in the temple and a few pilgrims, I was the only tourist there. This feeling is very strange. There is a small hall in the temple. There is a divination board on the incense table and a bucket next to it. I asked for a sign and went to a small cupboard next to the temple door to look for a red note that was untied by the sign number. There was no monk there to collect money or take care of it. This seems to be rare in other temples. In addition, there is a path from the back door of Bailudong, from which you can go directly to Huxi Cave. Both temples are free of charge.

Xiamen University Street is actually only half a street, and the other half belongs to Nanputuo Temple. The street next to Xiamen University is only a kilometer away, but hundreds of stores have been opened. Many of them deal in fashion clothes and stationery. The most striking thing is that it has gathered all the major bookstores in Xiamen.
