1. Seed germination
Cucumber seeds have a good seed shell with poor water permeability and are not suitable for germination. Therefore, in order to increase the germination rate of seeds during planting, they should be sown before planting. Germination needs to be carried out before. First, soak the seeds in water at a temperature of 25 degrees for 6 hours. After they are fully absorbed, scrub the surface of the seeds clean, wrap them with a wet towel, and place them in an environment of about 25 degrees for germination. Keep the towel If it is moist, it can usually be taken out and planted in about a day.
2. Sowing
When sowing, choose a soil that is loose, well-permeable, well-drained, and rich in humus. You can also use garden soil and cinders, and add some gravel. It has the function of long-term moisturizing and prevents moisture from being lost easily. When sowing, make a finger-sized hole in the soil, put the seeds into it, cover with soil and water until the soil is moist. In a plot with good ventilation and light, it will usually take about three days to take root and sprout.
3. Fertilizer and water management
It is not advisable to water cucumbers during the germination period. After the seedlings are unearthed, water them appropriately according to the soil conditions. During the growth period, they need to be watered every 3 days. Once, water less during the flowering period to avoid serious flower drop. Generally, watering once a week is enough. Watering should be done in advance during drought. When fertilizing, organic fertilizers and base fertilizers are mainly used, with chemical fertilizers or top-dressing fertilizers as supplements. Fertilizers are applied reasonably according to soil fertility conditions and cucumber growth conditions to balance vegetative growth and reproductive growth, which is beneficial to yield and quality.
4. Stretching to attract vines
When cucumber seedlings grow to a certain height, they must be transplanted to the field. However, they grow in the form of vines, so when the stems and leaves are too long, It is necessary to set up a frame, and the branches and leaves grow along the frame to prevent the branches and leaves from growing chaotically and causing the field to close. Cucumbers should be topping after one month of growth. Remove the heart leaves at the top and prune off some diseased and dead branches to promote more branches and increase yields.
