The college is located in Xingyi City, the capital city of Qianxinan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, which is the thoroughfare of Yunnan-Guizhou-Guizhou provinces, and is a public higher vocational college compatible with arts and sciences. The college covers an area of 797.32 acres, is now divided into two campuses, under the biological engineering, mechanical and electronic engineering, water conservancy and electric power engineering, business, medicine, nursing, security, mountain tourism and other eight teaching departments, continuing education and training department and Qianxinan national secondary vocational school. Now there are 23 higher vocational majors such as animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, computer network technology, power system automation technology, accounting, pharmacy, nursing and so on. There are 477 employees, 373 full-time teachers, including 86 with master's degree or above. There are 8 full-time teachers and 125 associate teachers. There are 12,000 full-time high school and middle school students. There are 50 on-campus training bases and 67 off-campus training bases at national, provincial and institutional levels for biotechnology engineering, nursing, pharmacy, midwifery, and automation technology of electric power system. It has the 107th national vocational skill appraisal institute, the Star Spark School of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Agriculture, etc., and has the third-grade qualification for safety training in Guizhou Province and the third-grade qualification for coal mine safety training in Guizhou Province. Nearly 70,000 people have been trained in industry sectors and vocational skills, and more than 4,000 people have obtained vocational skills appraisal level certificates and qualification certificates.
The College has highlighted the characteristics of vocational education in the coordinated development of high and middle-vocational education, adult education, technician education, skills, industry, and rural labor training, and has trained more than 16,000 graduates, with the initial employment rate of graduates stabilizing at more than 93%, and has cultivated a large number of technical and skilled talents for the economic and social development of Qianxinan Prefecture and the surrounding areas.
