Cultivation method of watercress
Soil selection

Watercress requires rich humus, loose and fertile soil and good drainage. 7 parts of leaf soil, 3 parts of river sand and a small amount of base fertilizer can be selected to prepare culture soil, or 6 parts of peat soil, 4 parts of perlite and a small amount of base fertilizer can be mixed. When planting, you usually buy potted plants directly, and you don't need to mix soil. You can learn a little about the composition of the soil.

Temperature requirement

Douban likes warm, humid and semi-cloudy environment, and is resistant to high temperature. The optimum growth temperature is about 25℃. In winter, it can grow normally from 10 to 15, stop growing below 10, freeze below 5 and freeze to death below 0. A small pot of watercress leaves is not so easy to raise.

Lighting requirements

Watercress is shade-tolerant, and can be cultivated indoors in bright scattered light all year round. In spring and autumn, you can see more light; In winter, you can see more sunshine near the south-facing window; In summer, it can be placed on the windowsill facing north, with proper shading. When the light is suitable, the leaf color is gorgeous, too strong or too dark will make the leaf color lose its delicate color.

Watering method

Water should be suitable for dry and wet soil in the basin. In the process of growth, spring and autumn are the peak of growth and development, with more water. It is very hot in summer, but plants grow slowly because of the high temperature. Water it once in the morning and once in the evening. Stems and leaves rot easily under high temperature and humidity, depending on the weather and soil. Potted soil should be slightly dry, because its stems and leaves are fleshy, too wet and easy to rot roots, especially in winter when the temperature is low and it is dormant, so potted soil should be dry.

Fertilization method

Douban is generally updated once every 2-3 years. During the growth period, top-dressing decomposed liquid fertilizer or nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer every 15-20 days, with the concentration of cake fertilizer 15%-20% and the concentration of nitrogen and phosphorus compound fertilizer 0.2%-0.3%. If you don't know proper fertilization, you can reduce nitrogen fertilizer and make the markings on the leaves more obvious.

Matters needing attention

Don't look at watercress green. The pot is lovely. Others raise it well. If you care half-heartedly, it will grow in vain. So trim it in time. When the watercress grows to about 10 cm, it is necessary to pick the core, promote the germination of lateral branches and make the plant fuller. Usually management should pay attention to moderate light and reasonable fertilizer and water. When the sun is not too strong, you can put the potted plants outdoors. But in summer, you can't expose yourself to strong light, especially in the sun, otherwise the branches and leaves will turn yellow.
