Chengde mountain resort (1703) Large-scale construction began in the forty-second year of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty. It is a Summer Palace built by the Qing Emperor in China for the political purpose of appeasing, uniting ethnic minorities in China's border areas and consolidating national unity.
Chengde mountain resort covers an area of 5.64 million square meters, which is mainly divided into palace area and garden area (lake area, plain area and mountain area). Chengde mountain resort is different from other royal gardens. It inherits and develops the traditional gardening idea of "beauty enters nature, conforms to nature and transcends nature" in China classical gardens.
According to the topographical features, the site selection and overall design depend entirely on the natural terrain and follow the mountain. This is a creative masterpiece, which combines the ancient garden art and architectural art in China.
Main attractions:
1, Jinshan
Jinshan Island was built in the 42nd year of Kangxi (1703), imitating the Jinshan Temple in Zhenjiang. Rockery was piled up on the island, and five temples were built on the mountain. Both temples were listed in the thirty-six scenic spots of Kangxi. There is a three-story wooden tower in the north of the commanding heights on the island, named Shenting, which is the place where the Qing emperor offered sacrifices to Zhenwu Emperor and Jade Emperor. Although this island is artificially piled up, it seems to be made in the sky. Emperor Kangxi praised him for climbing high and looking far, overlooking the clear water, such as climbing Qifeng.
2. Jehol
Jehol Spring is located in the northeast corner of Shanzhuang Lake and is the main water source of Shanzhuang Lake. Clear spring water gushes from the ground, flows through Hucheng Lake, Ruyi Lake, Shang Hu Lake and Huxia Lake, flows out of the five-hole sluice in the south of the Yinhe River, and flows into Wulie River along the long embankment. The Jehol is more than 700 meters long, which can't be found on general maps.
It is the shortest river in China. Jehol originates from the trickle of the summer resort, and the main water source comes from Jehol Spring. The water temperature in winter is 8℃. There are huge stones beside the spring, engraved with the word "Jehol".
3. Li Zhengmen
Li Zhengmen is the main entrance of the summer resort. The word "Li Zheng" is taken from the Book of Changes. "The sun and the moon are beautiful in the sky, and the vegetation in the valley is beautiful. It means "aboveboard door", emphasizing brightness and beauty, but turning it into secularity. There is a stone tablet engraved in five languages above the door, bearing the deep dream of the Chinese nation to return to the motherland and unify the world.
