According to Baidu Encyclopedia, Qianjiang City is a county-level city directly under the central government of Hubei Province, located in the south-central part of Hubei Province and the hinterland of Jianghan Plain, with a humid climate in the north subtropical monsoon. By the end of 20021,there were 7 streets and 10 towns in the city, with a total area of 2,004 square kilometers and a permanent population of 835,700.

Qianjiang City is known as "Cao Yu's hometown, Jianghan Oil City, water garden and lobster town". It is an important node city of Hubei's "two circles and two belts" strategy, such as Wuhan city circle, western Hubei eco-cultural tourism circle, Yangtze River economic belt and Hanjiang eco-economic belt. Jianghan Oilfield, one of the top ten oilfields in China, is located in the territory.
