Cabbage (Brassica oleracea) is a Brassica plant in Cruciferae, which is native to the Mediterranean Sea and the North Sea coast of Europe. As a vegetable, Chinese cabbage can be traced back to ancient Rome and ancient Greece 4000~4500 years ago. Hundreds of years ago, one of the varieties of Chinese cabbage, kale, was introduced to China, and Cantonese cultivated a localized vegetable, kale, which is the most common vegetable in Cantonese cuisine now.
After thousands of years of breeding, a variety of wild cabbage varieties have emerged, such as cabbage, wrinkled cabbage, red cabbage, Brussels sprouts, kale, bulbous cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli and so on. But fortunately, the cabbage family has inherited the mustard flavor that I like very much in wild cabbage. Great!
Let's show you the members of the cabbage family through pictures:
I can finally tell these children from the cabbage family, can't you?
