When talking about his own creative process, Feng Deying once said: "I have witnessed my father wandering in the yard with a notice of death in his hand many times;" I leaned against my mother's leg and watched her under the small oil lamp, weeping and mending the bloody military uniform for the wounded.

I saw my neighbors sending their husbands and sons to the battlefield in batches, and I also saw them starving on the public grain bag in order to save grain rations for the old people and children who were fighting in front ... "Childhood memories and revolutionary wars became an important source of his creation, and also became an important emotional motivation and literary foundation for his creation. His initial creation was inevitably integrated with the revolutionary tradition of Jiaodong Peninsula.

These three novels, no matter in subject matter, reproduce the harsh struggle of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the people in Jiaodong revolutionary base area during the liberation war with the enemy under the education and leadership of China's * * * production party.

They are very similar in realistic style, so they are often called "three flowers". After the 1980s, the author also published novels such as Blood-stained Land (PLA Literature and Art Publishing House 1986 Edition) and Clear Sky (PLA Literature and Art Publishing House 1992 Edition).

It was not until 1997 that an anthology of Feng Deying's short stories was published (published by the People's Liberation Army Literature and Art Publishing House), which was a collection of short stories and novelettes, and the novels were more based on the complicated real daily life in Jiaodong Peninsula.

Thinking about history, life and complex human nature in it includes the declining heroine "Captain Yangqiang", the sinister and cunning "Pseudo Bao Chang" during the Japanese occupation period, and his son and grandson after liberation, covering the historical changes and life changes from the 1920s to the end of the 20th century.

There have also been some changes in artistic form, which have aggravated the comedy color of sense of humor in Bitter Cabbage Flower, and even in Temptation and incurable happiness, it is full of black humor.
