The Cold Food Poem of Huangzhou was written by Su Shi when he was forty-seven years old in the fifth year of Yuanfeng. This text seventeen lines, more than a hundred words, is Su Shi's masterpiece of large character running script. This work is rich in ink, sinews and bones contained, the handwriting before the small after the big, unrestrained penmanship, in the letter of the pen in the swing, successfully will be in the poem in the sorrowful and sad state of mind, through the line, the form, into the realm of the art of calligraphy. Su Shi (1037-1101), with the character Zizhan, was known as "Dongpo Jushi". He was a famous writer, calligrapher and painter of the Northern Song Dynasty. This heirloom masterpiece measures 33.5 centimeters longitudinally and 118 centimeters horizontally, and is now in the National Palace Museum in Taipei.
