West Lake in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. Longjing tea is a traditional Chinese tea and one of the famous green teas. It is produced in Longjing Village, West Lake, Hangzhou, Zhejiang. As of March 12, 2024, it has a history of more than 1,200 years. Longjing tea is emerald green in color, rich in aroma, and mellow. Refreshing and shaped like a bird's tongue, it has the four unique characteristics of "green color, rich aroma, sweet taste and beautiful shape". West Lake Longjing tea ranks first among the top ten famous teas in China. When Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty visited West Lake in Hangzhou, he praised Longjing tea highly and named the eighteen tea trees in front of Hu Gong Temple at the foot of Shifeng Mountain as "Imperial Tea". It is named after Longjing, which is located at the northwest foot of Wengjia Mountain to the west of West Lake, which is now Longjing Village. Longjing was originally called Longhong. It is a round spring pool that never dries up in severe droughts. The ancients believed that this spring is connected to the sea. There is a dragon in it, so it is called Longjing. Legend has it that Ge Hong of the Jin Dynasty once made elixirs here.
