This is not Cordyceps sinensis, but the underground rhizome of Mannan (scientific name: Perilla frutescens), also known as potato, Spiraea, Cordyceps sinensis and Dihuaner. It originated in China, but it is also sold in France. Baota is a famous variety of pickles in Yangzhou, which is very crisp and tender. Cordyceps sinensis is not so white and fat, just compare it.
