Where is the land of fish and rice?
"Land of Fish and Rice" generally refers to the plain in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. It is called "Land of Fish and Rice" because the eastern part of China is affected by the summer monsoon, with abundant precipitation, humid climate and rich products.

Yangtze River Plain (middle and lower reaches; Chang Chiang Chung-Xia-Yu p' ing- Yuan refers to the banded plain in the middle and lower reaches of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River in China, which is one of the three major plains in China. It spans China, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai, and is known as the "water town". Its main industries include steel, machinery, electricity, textiles and chemistry.

The plain in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River starts from the eastern foot of Wushan in the west, reaches the Yellow Sea and the east coast in the east, connects Tongbai Mountain, the southern foot of Dabie Mountain and Huanghuai Plain in the north, and reaches the hilly area north of Qiantang River and Hangzhou Bay and the plain along the river in the south. It is about 1 1,000 kilometers long from east to west and about 1 1,000 ~ 400 kilometers wide from north to south, with a total area of about 200,000 square kilometers. It is mainly composed of Jianghan Plain and Dongting Lake Plain, with an altitude of 5 ~ 100 meters, most of which are below 50 meters. Annual average temperature 14 ~ 18℃, annual precipitation 1000 ~ 1500mm.

The plain in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River is located in the fold and fault depression zone of the Yangtze River paraplatform. Yanshan movement produced a series of fault basins, which were formed after the Yangtze River was cut, connected and alluvial. Under the influence of neotectonic movement, the Cretaceous-Tertiary red beds and Quaternary red beds on the edge of the plain rose slightly and were cut into red mounds with a relative height of 20-30 meters by running water, while the central and coastal areas along the river continued to fall, forming floodplains and coastal plains.

The plain in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River is an important production base of grain, oil and cotton in China, and it is also the region with the richest water resources in China. The natural water system of the Yangtze River and criss-crossing artificial canals make this area the densest river network area in China. At the same time, this area is the most concentrated area of freshwater lakes in China. The famous freshwater lakes are Poyang Lake and Dongting Lake.
