Dendrobium is a perennial herb of Dendrobium in Orchidaceae, which can be both ornamental and edible. Dendrobium is very convenient to grow in Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Fujian and other places, and can grow even if it is directly exposed in the shade.
Dendrobium cultivation conditions
1, Time: Generally it is spring and autumn, and spring is better than winter.
2, flowerpot: Dendrobium candidum likes to grow in a humid and breathable environment, so the flowerpot is breathable, you can choose ordinary pottery pots, but the bottom of the pot should have multiple ventilation holes. According to the seedling size of Dendrobium candidum, the capacity of small potted plants does not need to be too large, and the diameter is about 10 cm.
3. Substrate: put a small amount of gravel into the bottom of the basin, and then pour it into the soil with good water permeability and air permeability. Bark is generally selected and can be used after crushing, sterilization, disinfection and fermentation.
Family planting method and steps of Dendrobium
1, seeds mature
Soak the seeds in warm water for 3 hours, then put them on the soil in greenhouse for 3~4 days, keep them at about 20 degrees, and germinate in about 4~5 days.
2. Sowing and planting
First, the roots of germinated seeds are separated, and the roots are placed on the substrate, and then the roots are covered with the surrounding substrate, preferably to a depth of one third, and then a small amount of water is poured in.
Step 3 choose soil
It is best to choose loose, breathable and well-drained soil for the maintenance of Dendrobium, which can be made by mixing granular peat, pine bark and gravel in a ratio of 4:4:2.
4. Water and fertilizer management
Dendrobium likes humid environment, but it can't be watered too much, otherwise it will lead to water accumulation and rotten roots. When watering, it is best to spray the whole plant wet so that the plant can fully absorb water.
There is no specific number of times to water Dendrobium, as long as the soil is moist. Watering can be reduced appropriately in winter. During the growth period of Dendrobium, decomposed thin fertilizer should be applied once every 7- 10 days, and fertilization is not allowed in winter dormancy period.
5, light temperature
Dendrobium likes semi-shady environment, with short light time in spring and summer, and needs 60%-70% shade. In winter, more light is needed during dormancy, and the shade should reach 20%-30%.
In addition, the suitable growth temperature of Dendrobium is between 15-30℃, the winter temperature should not be lower than 5℃, and the temperature difference between day and night should not exceed 15℃.
6. Humidity
Native to tropical forests, the climate is mild. The humidity should be controlled above 60% and not more than 90% to avoid the occurrence of pests and diseases. When the weather is hot in summer, you should always spray water around plants and strengthen air circulation to keep moisture and dissipate heat.
