The molasses grass is suitable for well-drained soil in areas with rainfall of 800 to 1800mm between 30° north and south latitudes. The optimal growth temperature is 20 to 30 ℃, the coldest month average temperature stability is not less than 6 ℃. Frost will kill. Very drought tolerant and acidic lean soil, poor growth on clay, grassland improvement and soil and water conservation pioneer grass species, but does not tolerate salinity, fire and continuous heavy grazing. Mixed with legume forage grasses such as columnar flower grass, tropical kudzu, mountain locust and Brazilian clover. Generally, the annual production of dry matter per hectare is 3～8t. The dry matter contains 6%～10% crude protein and 30%～40% crude fiber. Seed production per hectare 165 ~ 250kg. suitable for green fodder, hay, silage or grazing, can also be used as soil and water conservation plants.
