How to treat cow hoof cracks?

There are cracks in the horny part of the hoof of diseased cows in different directions and to varying degrees. If the hoof crack is shallow, there will be no lameness and no pain. The hoof cracks are deep, the pacing is very obvious, the pain is significant, and it is highly susceptible to infection.

Treatment method

(1) Soak the diseased hoof in warm water until it is soft, and scrape inward around the hoof crack until the crack disappears.

(2) Make a horizontal groove about 2 cm long at both ends of the crack until the bottom of the crack disappears. The cracks and trenches are then coated with turpentine, and finally bandages or shoes are applied.

(3) Trim off the hoof hair, repair the crack, and file the horn on both sides of the crack into a rough surface. Go down past the end of the crack, first apply acetone to degrease 3 times, and then use epoxy resin. Fill cracks and rough surfaces with a mixture of No. 500 polyester in a 2:1 ratio and stir until milky white. Immediately after filling, apply 3 to 4 layers of gauze.

(4) Steam the potatoes, peel them off, apply them to the cleaned cracks while they are hot, and then wrap them with gauze.

(5) Boil 100 ml of cooking oil and add 2% alum to the oil. Then use a cotton ball dipped in oil and drip it into the crack until the crack is filled. Start by applying drops once a day, and after 4 days, apply drops once every other day. On the day you don't apply, apply oil.
