Du Mu Shuangji's ancient poem "Mountain Journey" is as follows:
Far up the Hanshan Mountain, the stone path is slanted, and there are people living in the white clouds.
I park my car and sit in the maple forest at night, the leaves are as red as the flowers in February due to frost.
Translation: The rocky path is winding and sloping far up the mountain top, where a few households are faintly visible where the white clouds grow. I stopped the carriage just because I loved the evening view of the maple forest. The frost-stained maple leaves were better than the bright February flowers.
Appreciation
This poem praises the autumn scenery in the mountains, showing a beautiful and clear picture of the mountains at sunset in autumn. The first two sentences describe the bright scenery in the mountains at dusk: the temple in the deep mountains and old forests is surrounded by green trees, and the rays of light pass over the mountain pavilions; the last two sentences describe the tranquility in the mountains: It is a beautiful autumn, but there are no tourists to enjoy it. On the road Only pine flowers float down from time to time. There are only four sentences in the whole poem, each sentence describes the scenery, the first and third sentences describe tranquility, the second and fourth sentences contain movement in the stillness and make it more still. The technique is new and unique, and the description is exquisite.
The whole poem does not use strong contrast or foil to enhance the meaning of the painting. It only uses light and gentle strokes to convey some movement in the silence, and the description is exquisite. At the same time, great attention is paid to the change of tones in the description: the green woods, the red glow and the pine flowers covering the ground are dyed with unique colors in the still and moving mountain pictures. This poem is overflowing with the poet's love for the world and his joy of leisure and contentment. It expresses the poet's feeling of being free from the worldly world while walking alone in the mountains.
