Leo Leoni was born on May 5, 1910, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, to a Belgian Jewish merchant and a soprano singer. He was immersed in a rich artistic atmosphere from an early age because his home was near an art gallery and his uncles were architects, painters and art collectors; from the age of 13, he moved with his family to the United States and Italy.
Humanism and rationalism have informed his work from the beginning to the end. Although Leoni was 49 years old when he began creating picture books, he ushered in a new era of picture books. The New York Times once gave him a glowing review, "If picture books are a new visual art of our time, Leo Lionni is the master of the genre." His picture books have won numerous awards, including "One Inch Bug", "Little Black Fish", "Apho the Vole", "Alexander and the Clockwork Mouse" won the Caddyshack Award four times in 1961, 1964, 1968 and 1970, respectively. He died in Italy on October 11, 1999, at the age of 89.
Introduction
In a corner of the sea lived a group of small fish, everyone is red, only one is black. One day, a fierce tuna ate all the little red fish, and only the little black fish escaped.
The little black fish wandered alone in the sea, encountering many strange and strange beings, and gradually became happy again. Until one day, he encountered a group of small red fish hiding behind the reef, in order to survive, in order not to have to hide, he thought of a good way, he taught the small fish to swim as a big fish, and he came to be the eyes! And with that, they swam in the cool of the morning, scaring the big fish away.
Specific Interpretation
The author's book completely eschews his favored collage format in favor of watercolor painting techniques. Specifically, watercolors are diluted with a large amount of water, and then the forms and backgrounds of fish, jellyfish, and seaweed are painted or topiarized in real life, which gives the images a sense of transparency.
The author engraved a small red fish seal, one by one, only the small black fish is hand-drawn. The author gives it a different meaning.
The front and back covers of this book are a complete picture.
The book is simply a story of coming together. Prof. Peng Yi, in his interpretation of the book, said: "The author also wanted to convey another meaning. There are 14 scenes in the book, of which 7 are scenes of the little black fish wandering alone in the sea. And in these 7 scenes Leo Leoni has painted his heart out, the deep sea, jellyfish, prawns, strange fish, seaweed, moray eels and anemones, one by one, wonderfully painted. He doesn't go so far as to popularize the ocean to children.
What the author wants to say to us lurks in these scenes, and it is not until then that the little black fish begins to realize what kind of world he lives in, and what kind of existence he has in it. The little blackfish learned to think, learned to think of the little blackfish grew.
In the book "*** Read Picture Book of the Year", it is said that a female writer named Vivian Paley, a kindergarten teacher, because the classroom children love his work, they are curious about that book is more like the author's incarnation? They had written to Leonie to get the answer. The author used a crayon to draw a circle on the little black fish and a horizontal line underneath it, and finally he wrote one big word on the line: me.
I love Leo Leoni's work because I finished this book and I want to bring reading to parents and children around me.
