Xinjiang Agricultural University, located in Urumqi, Xinjiang, is a key agricultural institution of higher learning in the autonomous region approved by the State Forestry Administration and the people's government of the autonomous region.
It was selected as the first batch of reform pilot universities in the central and western regions, the national graduate program for building high-level universities, the national "key discipline project with characteristics", the "excellent agricultural and forestry personnel education and training program" and the "excellent engineer education and training program" of the Ministry of Education.
National college students' cultural quality education base, founding member of the National Agricultural College Alliance along the Silk Road. Eight universities including Nanjing Agricultural University, Beijing Forestry University, Hohai University, China Agricultural University, Northwest A&F University, Jiangnan University, Hefei University of Technology and Southwest Jiaotong University supported Xinjiang Agricultural University.
As of March 2023, the school has four campuses: Laomancheng Campus, Yaxin Campus, Lugang Campus and Tiangeer Campus. Among them, Laomancheng Campus (headquarters) covers an area of about 1.500 mu, Yaxin Campus covers an area of about 500 mu, Lugang Campus covers an area of about 4,000 mu, and Tiangeer Campus (internship forest farm) covers an area of about 1.500 mu.

There are 7 post-doctoral research mobile stations, 8 first-class discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 1 first-class discipline master degree authorization points 19, and professional master degree authorization points 14;
