Indonesia is the largest garlic importer in the world, importing more than 500,000 tons of garlic every year. China is the main source of Indonesian garlic imports. 90.0% of Indonesian garlic imports come from China. The single import source has brought great pressure to Indonesia's domestic garlic market. In February, 2020, the epidemic situation was seriously affected, the overseas garlic supply was limited, and the domestic garlic price in Indonesia rose sharply. During this period, the highest garlic price in Indonesia reached 40.70 yuan/kg. Therefore, it is extremely important for Indonesia to actively expand the new garlic import market. However, the Indonesian Market Trade Association is currently trying to obtain permission to import garlic from Thailand, Laos and other countries.
