How to store fresh crabs

The methods of storing fresh crabs are room temperature preservation, refrigerator refrigeration, freezing preservation and so on.

1, room temperature preservation

If the crabs are still alive when you buy them back, room temperature preservation is one of the easiest and most direct methods. Put the crabs into a spacious container and add enough water, the depth of which should not be deeper than the crabs' mouths so as not to affect their breathing. Some ice cubes can be added moderately to prolong the preservation time, but do not overdo it so as not to cause the water temperature to be too low and the crabs to freeze to death. Put the container in a cool and ventilated place, room temperature preservation can last for 2-3 days.

2. Refrigerate

For crabs that you do not intend to eat immediately, the best way to preserve them is to put them in the freezer of the refrigerator. Before putting the crabs into the freezer, you need to clean the crabs and wrap the body with a wet towel to avoid water loss. The freezing temperature is usually 4-5℃ and the humidity is about 70%. Under these conditions, they can be kept for 5-7 days. However, it should be noted that the air circulation in the refrigerated room is not very good, so you need to open the window regularly to keep the air fresh.

3, Freezing preservation

Freezing preservation is a way to keep crabs for a long time. Put cleaned crabs into a freezer bag, remove air and seal it, then put it into the freezer. They can be kept in the freezer at -18℃ for up to a year. However, it should be noted that you need to follow the instructions when thawing, do not thaw it directly at room temperature, so as not to affect the taste.

Crab distribution range:

1, tropical shallow sea land: most crabs are marine, with the most tropical shallow sea species. For example, frog crabs, bun crabs, jade crabs, pike crabs, fan crabs mainly live in the coastal zone; square crabs, sand crabs live in the vast intertidal zone.

2, attachment survival: a very small number of crabs such as drift crabs and bowlegged crabs can be attached to wood or other floating objects. There are also a number of species and other animal camp **** habitat life, such as sheep crab family, Guan Gong crab family. Many species, such as the bean crab, often dive into the coat cavity of some mollusks, or the tubes of polychaetes***. Shan Cryptoceratidae, however, live in the sacs formed by reef-building corals, where the adult female crabs are confined to the sacs for life after mating, and the hatched larvae can escape through small, unclosed holes.

3, freshwater and land: a small number of crabs grow and reproduce exclusively in freshwater, where they mostly inhabit mountain streams under rocks. There are also a few crabs such as the ground crab can adapt to land life, burrowing in moist mud holes, and migrate to the sea during the breeding period.
