Lin Daiyu entered the Jia family and skillfully used the method of environmental description to reveal her experiences and feelings. Taking Daiyu's whereabouts as a clue, this paper focuses on the residences of Jia Fu Gate, Jia Mu, Jia She, Jia Zheng and Wang Xifeng, especially the residences of Jia Mu and Jia Zheng. The author only gives a brief introduction to Daiyu and her father, Lin Ruhai. More pen and ink are used in the perception of Daiyu, that is, through what Daiyu saw, heard and felt, concrete examples are given to illustrate Leng Zixing's speech in Rong and Ning Mansions. Therefore, this time, it is better to write Jia Fu through Lin Daiyu than to write Lin Daiyu. Grasping the majestic features, the author described the residence of Jia Mu in three times: the first time was a frontal description, starting from the hanging flower gate, then writing about the veranda and hall, then writing about the big screen and three halls, and finally writing about five main rooms and one wing with mountain verandas on both sides. This description from far to near, from the outside to the inside, fully shows the outstanding style of "Ding's hometown of food, home of poetry, calligraphy and painting". The second time, I didn't use many pens. I skillfully wrote the backyard of my grandmother's house by describing Daiyu eating at her grandmother's house. The third time, Daiyu's residence was arranged in a narrative way, and the spacious residence of Grandmother Jia was added. When describing Jia Zheng's residence, the author even wrote down Rong Xi Hall, Jia Zheng's living room and small main room with pen and ink, which highlighted the dignity and glory of the sovereign government and hinted at Jia Zheng's special position in the Jia family. The successful environmental description in the novel plays an important role in portraying characters and expressing themes.
