The cultural relics of the Sanxingdui site that I know include the bronze sacred tree, the bronze tall man, the bronze vertical-eye statue, the gold mask, and the gold foil of the sun bird, etc.
First of all, as far as the bronze sacred tree is concerned, this cultural relic belongs to the Shang Dynasty. The bronze sacred tree was discovered in the Sanxingdui sacrificial pit in the 1980s. It took about ten years from the discovery of the bronze sacred tree to its restoration. There are actually eight bronze sacred trees discovered in the Sanxingdui ruins, among which the most complete one is named "Sacred Tree No. 1". The bronze sacred tree we often talk about now actually mainly refers to this sacred tree. The height of this sacred tree is an estimated 396 centimeters, but this is only the residual height. Its complete height is estimated to be five meters. This bronze sacred tree is currently the largest single bronze cultural relic in the world.
The cultural relic of the Bronze Dali Man was discovered at about the same time as the Bronze Sacred Tree, and was found in Sanxingdui No. 2 Sacrificial Pit. The height of the bronze statue alone is 1.8 meters, and the overall height is 2.62 meters. It has the reputation of "the king of bronze statues in the world". The hands of the bronze tall figure are in a hollow posture. There are many opinions as to why it is in this posture. Some of them thought that the bronze Dali man was actually holding something, but the object disappeared for some reason, so in the end only the bronze Dali man's hollow hands were left. However, some people think that this is actually a specific posture.
Many bronze masks were also unearthed from the Sanxingdui site, the most eye-catching of which is undoubtedly the bronze Zongmu statue. This cultural relic, the Bronze Zongmu Statue, also comes from Sanxingdui No. 2 Sacrificial Pit, and there are only three of them. Two of them are smaller in size and are designated as "Type A", while the opposite "Type B" is larger in size. Among them, the B-type bronze vertical eye statue is known as "clairvoyance" and "shunfeng ears" because of its extremely exaggerated eyeballs and binaural design. Compared with type B, the appearance features of type A mask are not so exaggerated.
The Golden Mask is a "newcomer" that has just been announced recently. This cultural relic was found in Sanxingdui Sacrifice Pit No. 5, with a gold content of up to 85%. This golden mask is actually not complete, but its value is very high. Because it is thick enough, the gold mask can stand on its own without support. At present, this gold mask is only about half, and its weight is about 280 grams. It is estimated that if the remaining parts of this golden mask can be collected, its overall weight may exceed that of the golden staff, which is also a Sanxingdui cultural relic.
The Sun Bird gold foil, which is also a gold cultural relic like the gold mask, is famous for its lightness and thinness. The thickness of the Sun Bird gold foil is only 0.02 cm, and the weight is only 20 grams. The production of the sun bird gold foil is divided into two layers: the inner layer is made of twelve tooth-shaped rays of light, and the outer layer is the pattern of a bird flying counterclockwise. The number of cultural relics at the Sanxingdui site is very large and precious. More than 500 cultural relics have been unearthed so far. In the days to come, the number of cultural relics unearthed from the Sanxingdui site is bound to increase further.
