Clay furnace is a traditional pottery product of Han nationality produced in Nanfeng County, Jiangxi Province. Production began in the middle and late Qing Dynasty, with a history of 120 years. It is an early energy-saving cooker. Because of its beautiful style, milky white, strong endurance, high temperature resistance and durability, its products sell well both inside and outside the province and enjoy a good reputation. It has been a specialty of Nanfeng for more than 100 years. In June 2008, Nanfeng Clay Furnace was officially selected as the second batch of intangible cultural heritage in Jiangxi Province.

Nanfeng has three specialties: tangerine, mud stove and tofu skin. Nanfeng clay furnace is one of the most distinctive local products in Nanfeng County. Production began in the 13th year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (1887), and it has a history of 120 years. Nanfeng clay furnace, as a traditional pottery commodity, is made of high-quality refractory clay through refining and firing. There are 1-4 covered stoves (also known as charcoal stoves), 1-3 ordinary coal stoves, 1-7 wood stoves, 100 and 120 honeycomb coal stoves. The utilization rate of heat energy can reach more than 70%, which is energy-saving and convenient. It has the characteristics of "smooth surface, clear pattern, generous shape, exquisite workmanship and durability", which is deeply loved by the masses and gradually developed into a large-scale handicraft industry.
