adverse effect
Because Angong Niuhuang Pill contains cinnabar and realgar, according to the Pharmacopoeia, the main component of cinnabar is mercury sulfide (M-2 csulfids), and its content ratio is different, which is about 86.2% mercury and 0/3.8% sulfur/kloc-.For single cinnabar or Chinese patent medicines containing cinnabar, it is not advisable to take it excessively or for a long time, especially for patients with abnormal liver and kidney function, so as to avoid aggravating mercury poisoning.
In addition, because Angong Niuhuang Pill contains realgar, it can produce thioarsenate when taken together with nitrite and ferrous salt, which can reduce the curative effect. Similarly, taking it with nitrate and sulfate can oxidize arsenic sulfide contained in realgar and increase its toxicity. Therefore, it should not be taken with nitrate and sulfate.
