If there are no thorns it is endive. This is from my yard. I don't know what time of year your picture was taken, but one thing I'll remind you of is that endive, which blooms in late summer/early fall, is usually yellow and has basically the same shape as the one in your picture, and goes to seed in late fall, and the dried flowers turn white and fluffy, and that's the seed. Endive spring, summer and fall rely on root reproduction, you just need to bury a root across the soil, often watering, a few days after the germination, and grow several, the root will continue to grow, continue to germinate, a root can grow at least a dozen a year is not a problem, the seed is ripe, after the water washed into the soil, the soil dug up, stirred, and then sown in pieces, the next spring will be germinated.
