Huzhu Tu Autonomous County Huzhu Tu Autonomous County is located in the eastern part of Qinghai Province and the northern part of Haidong Region. It is adjacent to Daban Mountain in the Qilian Mountains to the north, connected to Menyuan Hui Autonomous County in Haibei Prefecture, adjacent to Tianzhu Tibetan Autonomous County and Yongdeng County in Gansu Province to the northeast, and Lezhou to the southeast.

It borders Du County, with Huangshui River as the boundary in the south, facing Ping'an County, Datong County in the west, and Xining City, the provincial capital, in the southwest.

The county is 86 kilometers long from east to west and 64 kilometers wide from north to south.

Huzhu Tu Autonomous County is the only single Tu autonomous county in the country. It is the place with the largest and most concentrated Tu ethnic group. It is dominated by the Han ethnic group. The Tu ethnic group accounts for about 17% of the total population. There are also Tibetans, Hui ethnic groups, Zhuang ethnic groups, Li ethnic groups, Bai ethnic groups, Miao ethnic groups, Dong ethnic groups,

It is located in the mountains and valleys on the north side of the Huangshui Valley and the southwest side of the Datong Valley. The Huangshui River flows from west to east through the south, and the Datong River flows from northwest to southeast through the eastern part of the county.
