Nanchang Mosque is located atNo. 15, Vinegar Lane, Zhongshan Road, Nanchang City, commonly known as the ancient temple. When it was established, it was said that it was built in the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty 1673. On the other hand, in the fourth year of Qing Daoguang (1824), two Muslims in Maha raised funds to buy a private house and rebuild it. This temple is the only existing mosque in Nanchang. According to the inscription in the temple, in the 18th year of the Republic of China, with the donation of the mosque leaders, the original single-storey building was changed into a brick-wood structure with two floors. After liberation, under the care of the party and the government, many funds were allocated to repair the mosque. 198 1 year, the government allocated huge sums of money to tear down the original house and rebuild it into a two-story reinforced concrete building. The whole temple covers an area of more than 400 square meters, facing south, and is rectangular, which is divided into the front building and the back building. The gate is eight-shaped, and the stone plaque at the upper end of the front is engraved with the three characters "Mosque". The whole building adopts the traditional architectural style of China, with a simple appearance. The downstairs of the front building is a clean (bath) room, and the upper floor is an office. There is a patio between the front and rear buildings, which can be ventilated and sunny. The back building is the main building, and the Daxiong Hall is located upstairs, about 100 square meter, which can accommodate 200 people to worship. There is a wing in the southwest corner. The downstairs lobby is used for meetings, festivals and other activities. On the east and west sides are lecture hall, dean's office and reception room. At the end of the hall, there is a patio that echoes the front patio.
Mosque 198 1 was approved as a legal Islamic religious site in Nanchang. The city Islamic Association is located here. Since opening to the outside world, it has received a large number of Muslims and friendly people from home and abroad to worship and visit the temple. Nanchang Mosque has become an influential center of Muslim religious activities in Jiangxi Province.
