1. Weather. Angkor Wat has a tropical monsoon climate, with mild weather and little rainfall from December to February, which is the best season for tourism. It's hot at noon in Angkor Wat, so it's best to stay in the hotel at this time to avoid getting sunburned. If you must go out, you should wear sunscreen and take an umbrella.
2. safety. Many buildings in Angkor Wat are very high, and the stairs are steep, narrow and slippery. Pay attention to safety and don't try to be brave. A pair of shoes that fit you is also necessary. When riding a bicycle or an electric car, you should pay attention to traffic safety, especially when watching the sunrise and sunset. There are no street lamps on the suburban roads. It is best to bring a flashlight or headlights so that cars can see you.
3. language. In recent years, Chinese has been gradually popularized in Cambodia, although it is not very common. But it would be great if you could speak fluent English.
4. time difference. One hour later than Beijing time.
5. currency. Cambodia uses the US dollar, but the RMB is not in circulation. Many local people also use the US dollar for commodity trading. The exchange rate between US dollar and Cambodian currency riel is: 1 $ = 4, Riel. However, commodities are generally quoted in US dollars, and only the change of less than US$ 1 will be found, so there is no need to exchange local currency.
6. Tickets. There are three kinds of tickets for Angkor Wat: 2 dollars for one day, 4 dollars for three days and 6 dollars for seven days. Tickets for the next day will be sold at 5 pm, and you can go in and visit after buying the tickets, but the staff will start to clear the scene at 6: 3.
7. Shopping. Located in the city center, all daily necessities and tourist souvenirs can be bought here. There are many commodities here, including oil paintings, wood carvings, clay sculptures imitating Angkor architecture, cloth scarves, hand-embroidered silk shawls, silver ornaments, chopsticks, incense and so on. The price of the same thing is more expensive than Phnom Penh, so it is possible to bargain as much as possible, about 5%.
8. delicious food. There are many stalls serving delicious food, ranging from authentic Cambodian food to western-style steak and Indian curry flavor. But the sanitary conditions are not good. A few streets around the market are the food area and nightlife area in Siem Reap, with restaurants and bars of all styles and prices.
9. Custom taboos. When entering temples and other places, you should not wear slippers, shorts, short skirts and sleeveless tops. Shoes should be light and fit and suitable for walking, and it is not advisable to wear newly bought shoes and high heels.
