Riding along the east route, the terrain from Haikou to Lingshui is not very undulating, while the section from Lingshui to Sanya is more undulating, but not too difficult.

Starting along the east route clockwise around the island is the choice of many riders.

To describe the eastern route in sections, you can ride along National Highway 223 for about an hour to Lingshan Town, and then take Provincial Highway S201 to Wenchang.

Tips for cycling in this section: The route closer to the coastline can be taken as follows: take S111 and X104 from Haikou to Coastal Town to cross the sea, pass through Puqian Town and Longlou Town to Tongguling.

This road is relatively close to the coastline. You can directly pass by the former residence of the Song family and visit the Tongguling National Nature Reserve.

You can camp in Dayao Bay at night or stay in a hotel in Longlou Town.

The next morning, I rode 30km to Qinglan Port, took the ferry to Qinglan Town and continued cycling around the island.
