Shanghai Museum was founded in 1952, and its original site was the Old Horse Racing Club at No.325 Nanjing West Road. In October of 1959, it moved into Zhonghui Building at No.16 Henan South Road, and now it is located at No.211 Renmin Avenue, Huangpu District, south of People's Square in downtown Shanghai.
