What’s delicious in Xi’an?

Speaking of Xi'an, there are quite a lot of interesting things. After all, it is Chang'an in ancient times, but today we are mainly talking about Xi'an's food and those little-known specialties and literary places. Of course, the most important thing when traveling is to have a good rest, which is also essential.

Xi'an has many famous attractions, such as the Terracotta Warriors, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, City Wall, etc. There are also countless guides about Xi'an. There is nothing to eat or do when you come to Xi'an, except for the many delicacies and attractions that everyone is familiar with. Today I will take you to experience them.

Accommodation is the first priority. If you have particularly high requirements for accommodation, it is recommended to book a hotel directly. If you come alone or with a few friends and want to make more friends here, you can choose a youth hostel. Not only can you meet many interesting people, but you can also save a lot of accommodation costs. There are many youth hostels in Xi'an, and there are also many family youth hostels. Personally, I don't recommend choosing family youth hostels. Safety is the first priority when traveling.

A special recommendation for accommodation is Xi'an Xiaohua Youth Hostel, a youth hostel that only accepts women. Opened in 2010, it is one of the earliest youth hostels in Xi'an. It has a very good location. It is on West Street, close to Muslim Street and the Bell Tower. Ten meters to the west is the Xi'an Lianhu Public Security Bureau. Xiaohua Youth Hostel was renovated in 2016. The interior decoration is very warm and the artistic atmosphere is very strong. The items provided in the store are very complete, ranging from washing machines

foot bath buckets to sewing heads and ropes. Everything is special. convenient. Therefore, Xi'an Xiaohua Youth Hostel is particularly worth staying at.

The second point is of course eating. Many people think that Xi’an’s delicacies are all in Huimin Street, but this is not the case. Here are some recommended delicacies that you may not know as a tourist.

1. Beef patties

Many stores in Huimin Street sell beef patties, but the most delicious one is in Sajinqiao. They don't have a store, just a middle-aged couple who set up a stall on the roadside of Sajinqiao every morning. Why is it only available in the morning? Because it must be sold out in the morning. There are so many people buying, and most of them are locals, so if you want to eat, you must queue up early.

Their beef patties are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. They are fragrant and not greasy. If you come to Xi'an, you must try it.

2. Fatty Rice Cake is also located in Sajin Bridge, opposite the beef cake. Fatty rice steamer cake is far more delicious than a certain rice steamer cake recommended in many guides. There are a lot of jujube paste and red beans in the steamer cake, which is sweet but not greasy, and the glutinous rice also tastes good.

3. Fried buns

Note that these are fried buns, not cumin meat buns. Every night at the intersection of Daxue Lane, there is an old Hui couple selling fried buns from a cart, which taste super delicious. When buying fried buns, be sure to order a bunch of lettuce instead of frying them.

4. Milk and egg fermented glutinous rice is located at the intersection of Daxue Lane. It is thought to be a street stall set up by a Muslim uncle. Put the milk, eggs and glutinous rice together and simmer for about ten minutes over low heat. Then add some dried fruits such as walnuts and raisins, as well as some hawthorn slices. Drink it and have an endless aftertaste.

5. Adzuki bean cake is a roadside stall in Huimin Street. It is only available from 11 noon to 2 pm every day, and it will not be open if the weather is bad. It is boiled with red beans and a lot of dried fruits and finally shaped into cubes.

Having talked about so much food, let’s talk about some places to play. In addition to the famous attractions, there are many places worth visiting in Xi'an.

1. An independent bookstore similar to Wanbang Bookstore and Pioneer Bookstore. Wanbang Bookstore is a good independent bookstore in terms of style and book types, and it is very suitable for literary and artistic places.

2. Xicang Market

There is a market in Xicang every Thursday and Sunday, located behind Muslim Street. There will be many interesting things in Xicang Market, such as old-fashioned telephones, radios, and old shoes. There is nothing you can’t see, only things you can’t imagine.

3. Universities

Xi'an is home to many universities, including Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an International Studies University, Fourth Military Medical University, Shaanxi Normal University, etc. 985, 211 schools. So when you come to Xi'an, you must go to these universities to experience the strong academic atmosphere.

Xi'an is not only an ancient historical city, but also an ancient cultural city. When you come to Xi'an, you must go deep into the streets to experience the rich cultural atmosphere of this old city.
