Taking stock of Sanya’s food history
When I was young, my job was transferred to Sanya, the border of the motherland.

When I left, I lived together for 13 years, during which time I got married and had children.

Today I was chatting with a buddy who has lived in Sanya for 22 years.

It’s hard to talk about those past years. We both recalled the food in Sanya during those years.

Many restaurants have long been closed and even their original locations cannot be found.

If you have also been to Sanya in the past 20 years from 1995 to 2015, this article will help you bring back many memories.

According to the geographical location, from west to east, it is probably from the end of the world to Yalong Bay.

1. There are several "Hainanese food" shops on the roadside in Tongjing Village, probably on the south side of Phoenix Airport. These small shops serve authentic Hainanese food. If you pass by, find a shop with a lot of people and sit in to ensure you can eat it.

Experience authentic Hainanese cuisine.

(It should still be open) 2. There used to be a "Sour Soup Fish" in Tongjing Village. It was a dilapidated second floor and was full of fresh seafood. The most famous thing about their store was the Sour Soup Fish, which seemed to be fish cooked with sour beans.

The soup is milky white and delicious.

(It should be moving now, the store should still be open) 3. Airport Road Steamed Vegetables, which used to be a store that opened a few years ago next to the intersection to the airport in Yanglan Town.

(I don’t know if it is still there or not) 4. The “Beef Bone Rice” in Yanglan Town is a roadside shop that specializes in beef stew. Since it is a Muslim village, you can rest assured that it is real beef.

(It should still be there now) 5. The first ramen restaurant in Yanglan Town. I have been eating it for more than ten years. I always have a bite on the way to the airport after drinking too much. It is the most delicious ramen. Now enter the city:

6. Haiya Restaurant. The current Haiya Restaurant has gone through several moves. It was first located on the roof of the second floor next to Yuejin Street. The building is a strong Hainan style. Later, his family moved to Hexi Road, Sanya, and later

Moved to Xinfeng Road.

This is an authentic Hainanese dish, but the price doubled after several moves.

7. When mentioning "Haiya Restaurant", we cannot fail to mention the contemporary "Li Guo Hotel". This is a local restaurant with almost the same environment and dishes as Haiya. The price is even more reasonable and the taste is more authentic.

(I didn’t know if it would still be open later) 8. Old railway station food circle. There is an old railway station in Sanya. It is said that the Japanese built the coal-carrying railway from Sanya to Yacheng-Jiusuo. It is the waiting hall of a modern railway station.

It is abandoned, but there are several small food shops hidden in an alley in front of the waiting hall.

One is "Cuttlefish Noodles". We sometimes visit in the morning. The store buys fresh small cuttlefish noodles from the seafood market, and then mixes them with the local noodle soup. The soup is ink-colored and has a delicious taste.

(I can’t seem to find it now) 9. Add white pepper granules and other seasonings. After stewing, pull out the toothpick and the aroma will be overflowing. The unique umami of the chicken matches the texture and taste of the pork belly. From time to time, a piece of white pepper will wake you up.

Taste buds.

The boss said that this white pepper can cure stomach problems and is as effective as boiling water from betel nut flowers.

(I don’t know where these delicacies have moved now. There should be a restaurant that makes pork belly and chicken.) 10. Chinatown Partner” The current Blue Ocean Shopping Plaza used to be a large open space, and there are countless delicious foods hidden here.

Partners, our favorite food is "Afanti Kebab". This is a barbecue stall owned by Xinjiang people. The meat skewers are soft and tender, and the flavor is tangy. Once, my buddy and I went drinking. The tall guy was wearing white.

The man in the shirt pretended to be a navy man, grabbed the boss by the collar and asked him for the secret recipe of the meat skewers. The boss with a mustache begged for mercy, and finally told us to use onions to juice, and we will try this juice later.

After a while, the taste and aroma have indeed improved to a new level. After skewering the meat, my fingers smelled strange for several days. (Afanti later moved to the commercial street, and the business has dropped a lot. I don’t know now.

(It’s not open yet) 11. At the intersection of Chinatown Plaza, close to the city hall, there is a teal duck porridge restaurant. Every time we finish drinking and go out for the second KTV, we will come to this restaurant at one or two o’clock at night.

Eat a portion of teal porridge so that you can sleep until midnight after returning home. Their sausages, stir-fried vegetables, crab porridge, and shrimp porridge are all great (the place has been renovated now). The route is a bit off, back to the middle line of Sanya.

. 12. Diagonally opposite the Giya Building, there is a short alley next to the current Computer City. There used to be a "Cantonese Pigeon Porridge" here. The Cantonese cuisine, especially the pigeon porridge, was very delicious, and we often served it late at night.

A small shop was opened here. Later, the first KFC in Sanya was opened. At that time, people were lining up to eat KFC. (Now even KFC has moved. Behind the computer city is a food street, which is rubbish.

13. There is a 5-story restaurant in a prime location in Sanya Bay. The top two floors are the famous "Tiandu Restaurant". This is a place where you can eat seafood in a side oven. In the evening, sit on the roof.

There are no walls on all sides, and the refreshing sea breeze blows. Looking at the endless sea, the afterglow of the setting sun suddenly makes people feel a sense of home, country, and world.
