The downfall of Liu Nanzhai

In the sixth year of Tongzhi in Qing Dynasty (1867), Nian Army entered Yishui County from Linqu. Liu Zhuo of Liunanzhai 1 1 fled to Zhuwu village in the west of Yishui city to avoid the attack of the Nian army, and served as a guard, repaired the polder wall, prepared equipment, and closely guarded the Nian army. The Nian army failed to attack Zhu Wu, and many people were captured. When the army occupied Yishui City the year after next, all the buildings in Liunanzhai were set on fire. Most of the halls and bungalows were later rebuilt. 1939 When the Japanese army invaded Yishui City, Liu's descendants left home to take refuge, and their houses were occupied by the Japanese army and converted into strongholds by the Japanese army. 1944, when Yishui city was liberated, most houses were destroyed by war. After liberation, it was converted into Yishui County Winery. After the reform and opening up, Yishui County Winery went bankrupt, and Liunanzhai became a square in front of Yishui County Government. At this point, Liu Nanzhai is gone. However, Weifang Wanyuan, which was roughly in the same period, was completely preserved and became a precious specimen of private gardens in the north. The publicity of Talia Liu's former residence in the last days of feudal society and its complete oblivion in the turbulent modern history made Yimeng history lament.
