Bait silk
As the name suggests, the silk cut from bait blocks is a rice product similar to rice noodles. It is as popular among Yunnan people as rice noodles.
Introduction
Tengchong bait silk system was invented by people from Hujiawan Village, Dongshan Township. It is made from the local specialty pulped rice and has a history of nearly 400 years. It is a convenient snack widely loved by locals and foreign guests in Tengchong
Tengchong people refine rice into bait silk, The bait block has a history of at least three to five hundred years. According to word of mouth, Zhu Youlang (Emperor Yongli), the emperor of the Southern Ming Dynasty, was defeated and fled to the west. He once ate a large bowl of stir-fried bait cubes at a farmhouse. After being full to relieve hunger, he still felt an endless aftertaste, so he was full of admiration. Call it a great rescue without emotion. Since then, "Da Jiujia" has become the title of Tengchong fried bait cake and even synonymous with Tengchong bait silk and bait cake.
Tracing back to the origin, Tengchong bait silk and bait blocks are most famous for their production in Hujiawan, a suburb in the east of the city. Its refined products are made with extremely strict material selection and exquisite craftsmanship. Its outstanding features are soft and sinewy, not mushy after being cooked for a long time, can be eaten slightly hot, and has a fine and glutinous texture.
