The Penghu Joint Defense Brigade outsmarted the Xiaogushan stronghold. In July 1938, the Japanese invaders set foot on the land of Hukou, Jiangxi. The people of Hukou launched an indomitable struggle against the Japanese invaders.
In 1943, a military engineering team behind enemy lines and the 18th Advance Regiment dispatched by the Fifth Division of the New Fourth Army stationed in Hukou and opened up an anti-Japanese guerrilla base in the border area of ??Hukou and Pengze.
On February 5, 1944, the Penghu Joint Defense Brigade was established in Tangshan with 15 people from the armed forces behind enemy lines as the backbone, and 33 people were recruited in Tangshan, Liusi, Dacheng and other places.
In order to confuse the enemy, it is known as a brigade with squadrons and detachments, but in fact it only has the number of people in one detachment.
But the armed forces of Hukou County started here. The more they fought, the more courageous and stronger they became. They continued to grow and develop. On the eve of the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, they once expanded to more than 300 people.
There is a small solitary mountain at the junction of Hu (kou) and Peng (ze), also called Wangfu Mountain. It is very steep. There is only one path leading to the top of the mountain. About one mile below the mountain are Jiangxi and Anhui provinces and Hukou and Pengze counties.
Land and water routes.
After the Japanese occupied the area, they built a stronghold on the mountain, set up telephone lines leading to Hukou and Pengze, dug trenches, built bunkers, set up machine guns and steel cannons, and surrounded the mountainside.
With three barbed wire fences, as long as there is the slightest movement, this stronghold is commanding and can block the river and roads with firepower at any time, posing a great threat to the New Fourth Army and guerrillas operating along the river.
In April 1945, the Jiangnan Advance Detachment of the New Fourth Army and the Penghu Joint Defense Brigade decided to jointly attack Xiaogushan and completely eliminate the enemy's stronghold.
On May 2, the advancing detachment ambushed a company at the foot of the mountain, responsible for monitoring the Japanese and puppet troops in the direction of Pengze and Hukou; Wang Huoying was sent to lead the Penghu joint defense brigade to form a 15-man combat team, disguised as "coolies" and carrying hoes.
, shovels and other tools went to Xiaogushan to "renovate" fortifications for the Japanese army in the stronghold.
At the same time, the commanders and fighters ambushing outside the stronghold quickly cut off the phone lines.
When the Japanese army saw that the "coolies" who came were all strong, worked hard, and brought food and wine, they immediately relaxed their vigilance. Some enemies returned to their strongholds, and several enemies who were watching from the side also put their guns aside.
, sat in a circle, picked up the wine and meat, ate and drank.
The "coolies" worked hard for a while and gradually surrounded this group of enemies.
Seeing that the time had come, Wang Huoying sent out the pre-arranged code: "Get closer, dig deeper!" The 15 people each found the target, and suddenly started working together, shoveling and hoeing. The enemy of the supervisor had not figured out what was going on.
All were killed.
Wang Huoying immediately seized the guns, and several sharpshooters aimed and fired at the Japanese troops on top of the stronghold, killing the Japanese troops on sentry duty.
The enemies in the stronghold heard the gunshots and came out to check, but were also shot to death by several soldiers.
In this battle, it only took ten minutes to cleanly take down the Xiaogushan stronghold, eliminate the defending enemy, and capture 1 light machine gun, 6 rifles, 1 grenade, 1 telescope, bullets, grenades,
Several military pots, military blankets, military coats and other military supplies.
A week later, the Japanese army mobilized troops stationed in Anqing, Dongliu, Wangjiang, Hukou and other places and attacked in three directions in an attempt to recapture Xiaogushan. They were resolutely counterattacked by the Jiangnan Advance Detachment and the Penghu Joint Defense Brigade.
The enemy charged several times but was repulsed, with dozens of people killed and wounded.
The enemy commander became angry and personally directed the charge, but was shot down by a soldier from the advancing detachment.
The Japanese army had no choice but to carry dozens of wounded officers and soldiers and fled back to Pengze County in embarrassment.
