Where does Meiwan Old Street belong?
Meiwan Old Street is named after the ancient people planted plum blossoms here. It is near the bend of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. It is one of the few traditional residential and commercial areas in Jiaxing that embodies the local characteristics of the south of the Yangtze River and has a strong style in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. Since ancient times, Meiwan Street, because of its inherent land and water advantages, has been a place where merchants from Jiaxing gather in history, and the most important rice market and silk market in Jiaxing have gathered here.

"Endless business travel" is a true portrayal of the bustling scene of Meiwan Street. Meiwan Street reflects the changes of Jiaxing's history and culture and brings together the essence of Jiaxing's traditional history and culture.

In the process of promoting "a famous historical and cultural city in the south of the Yangtze River", building a "famous cultural city" and building a "humanistic Jiaxing", Jiaxing Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government put the protection and development of Meiwan Street on the agenda as a practical and key project.

The newly opened Meiwan Block has a total investment of 480 million yuan and covers an area of 65.438+10,000 square meters. It consists of Meiwan Food City, Meiwan Xintiandi, Meiwan Commercial Street, Meiwan Old Street and Meiwan Business District. The old street still retains a number of classical buildings with strong Jiangnan charm. The ancient houses built near the lake can not only enjoy the water features of the southwest lake, but also become a beautiful scenery in the eyes of tourists.

Meiwan Street still preserves many famous historical and cultural relics and celebrities' former residences, such as Shen Junru Memorial Hall, Chu Fucheng's historical materials exhibition room, Jin Jiu Shelter, the former refuge site of the Korean interim government, and the former residences of Shakespeare translator Zhu Shenghao and water conservancy engineer Wang Huzhen, which are about to be restored. Meiwan Street has gathered 65.438 million+merchants, and there are many century-old shops such as silk shops, antique shops and handicrafts. At the same time, it also introduced tourism projects such as marriage custom museum, root carving museum, shadow play museum and pingtan bookstore. It is the largest historical and cultural leisure block in Jiaxing at present.

Meiwan Business District was opened to the public on June 5438+1October, 2007, and was rebuilt on June 5438+03( 1924), and it was maintained many times after the founding of the People's Republic of China.

There are no statues in the temple, covering an area of more than 50 square meters and a height of 12 meters. The double eaves are high, and there are stone steps in the north and south of the cloister, which is a temple-style building. To the south of the temple is a pond, and roads on both sides separate the lake from the pond. There are flowers and trees in the south of the pond, and the famous dancing stone stands in the south, which is magnificent. The stone is 3 meters high and 2 meters wide, also known as "snake flat stone", which has been repeatedly recorded in past dynasties. The ancients praised this kind of stone for its strange shape, "glaring at its claws" and "dancing when hungry" According to legend, it is a relic of the Tang Dynasty, and it is also said to be a relic of Huagangshi in the late Northern Song Dynasty. This stone is engraved with the words "Dancing jiaozi". Ishihara was in Puyuan and moved to Jiaxing in the Ming Dynasty. After many vicissitudes, it moved to the island from Dongmen Daniantang in 1953. Dancing in the heather, the willow is dark and the flowers are bright, the pavilions are near the waves, quiet and open.

To the north of the island is lakeside park, which is connected by a zigzag bridge. The park is open in 1959, covering an area of more than 20 mu, with green trees, pavilions and lakes. It is refreshing to sit and rest. Meiwan Old Street has now become a cultural building similar to Xitang!
