Is the power amplifier board of focal solo6 be disassembling reliable?

is the focus solo 6be disassembly amplifier reliable? There are so many people urging this review, which is the first time for me to write for so many years. I looked at the previous Focal CMS 65 evaluation and Twin 6 evaluation, and there was no burden of Solo 6 buried, which is strange.

I think these are the main reasons. First, the top quality and workmanship of Focal SM6 series need not be mentioned. Secondly, Twin 6 Be is too expensive, and for medium-sized recording studios, Solo 6 is more ideal for small studios and high-end individual enthusiasts in terms of price and volume.

that's what I think myself. after evaluating Twin 6 Be, I have a hunch that Solo 6 Be may be my best choice. Because I waited too long for the Demo, I bought a pair myself with four months' salary, which was a bit exaggerated, but it was not a hasty decision. After receiving it, I knew that I had made the right choice.

Appearance articles (score: 5/5)

Appearance articles need not be said more, as luxurious as the previous Twin 6 Be, with a score of 5 directly.

However, I need to add some details of accessories that were missed in the previous Twin 6 Be evaluation, because the Twin 6 evaluated last time was a Demo, and there were no accessories. This time, I bought the Solo 6 out of my own pocket, and all the accessories were available.

1. Holy cow, this package is not new ... (One more word of caution: Never use China Railway in the future. This time something serious happened, and it was very unpleasant to claim compensation with them)

2. Fortunately, it is intact and the accessories are complete

3. The original huge power adapter, European-style plug

4, rubber feet

5, original wire rod is a right-angle plug like CMS 65 we evaluated

6, tweeter head cover, which says that it must be removed (except for transportation)

7, front and rear panels (click to enlarge)

Technical article (score: 5/5)

This article is not needed. Thousands of words were said in the evaluation of Twin 6 Be last time. The BASH amplifier, anti-dome pure beryllium treble and "W" fiberglass bass on Twin 6 are all available in Solo 6, but there is one biggest difference between Solo 6 Be and Twin 6 Be.

that is, its EQ does not need to be adjusted.

I almost remember the adjustments made to the speakers every time I evaluated them. For example, RM2 is a treble attenuation grid; Twin 6 Be is a high-pitched tone and a low-pitched tone attenuation half; There is also a very interesting Alesis M1 that needs to be stuffed with two socks (there are many people who say that socks are really useful, haha). Note that my general suggestion is to adjust it within 1 grid (including half grid). Personally, I think that too large a range will destroy the style and connection of the speaker itself.

Solo 6 Be is one of the few speakers that I have encountered that need not be adjusted. My first ear felt that there was no need to adjust, but this step was just like recording too well without adding plug-ins (I feel uncomfortable without adding plug-ins). I added half a grid to the treble, which made me feel even more uncomfortable. I tried to attenuate the bass by half a grid, and the result was adjusted back.

In short, there is no need to adjust (and I can't obviously feel the crossover point). The sound naturally makes me a little unnatural. Focal seems to be more skilled in double frequency division, and the properties of these two units tend to be double frequency division design.

By the way, someone asked me how to choose the level behind the SM6 series. Common sense is that +4dBu (balanced, -11dBV unbalanced) is better, and the volume is small, the impedance is large and the distortion is smaller. I did a search on GearSlutz again, and sure enough, someone asked, * * * knowledge is also better than +4dBu.

Subjective article (score: 5/5)

This is an absolutely subjective evaluation.

the reviewer is not me, but my girlfriend.

Usually, when evaluating speakers, MM usually plays games and watches Niu Bo. She is used to being harassed by the new speakers I receive every month. When I played back her favorite new album "Life is Wonderful" (the first sentence is a cantata) by using Solo 6 Be, she looked up and asked in surprise:

"Are you singing?"

"No" (music continues)

"I thought you were singing!"

MM has been accompanying me to evaluate speakers for so long, which is the first time I have encountered this situation.

after writing evaluation for so many years, I have been thinking, what is a good technology? Recently, there is a new idea: the so-called good technology is to make you ignore the technology itself. Just like I've been using a MAC for two years, you can become a hardware expert and a system expert after using a PC for a long time, but after using a MAC, you rarely have the opportunity to study the computer itself, so you can concentrate on your work, because the purpose of using a computer is not to become a computer expert.

There is also a Social Network recently. The best network technology is that there is no network. Facebook is a social circle, and you don't even think about how awesome Facebook technology is. Similarly, as a small expert in the audio circle, when I watched Let the Bullets Fly, I completely forgot how the music was done, even the melody was forgotten, and I was completely taken away by the compact plot. This is a good movie.

the so-called good speaker means that you can't feel the existence of the speaker.

at this moment, I realized that Focal's slogan is "Listen to your music, not to your speakers", so that's it. Evaluating "sound quality" may not be the patent of professional musicians, but ordinary people are enough, just as you don't have to be a gourmet to know whether a piece of Sichuan style pork is delicious.

Give me another "professional" example.

my friend, Mr. Wang, an Avid trainer (the first certified Pro Tools 311 in China), used ADAM A7 for his own use, and asked me what speakers I recommend around 11,111. My most respected teacher Jimi (ADAM S3A is used in his shed) and I recommended CMS 65, and the Focal booth happened to be next to Avid during the music exhibition. I took him to listen to it for a while (his wife was there, a teacher of the Central Conservatory of Music), and it happened that Solo 6 also had an audition. After listening to it, he immediately decided to buy Solo 6 Be at twice the price (very risky, because the sound quality could not be clearly heard at the music exhibition). Seriously exceeded his budget, but he also came up with a pair of CMS 65 on A7. (I helped him make a pair of A7s, and my important friends contacted me)

His speakers arrived before me. We compared Digidesign RM2 and Solo 6 Be together, and we thought that RM2 was "awesome" and Solo 6 was "true". Both of us prefer Solo6B subjectively (in fact, he can buy RM2 at a low price with the staff price, but decided to go to Solo6B).
