The interesting places in Chongming Island are: Dongping National Forest Park, Dongtan Migratory Birds Reserve, Chongming Museum and Chongming Academy

1. Shanghai Dongping National Forest Park is located in Chongming District, Shanghai, in the north-central part of Chongming Island, with a length of 1,7 meters from east to west and a width of 1,4 to 2,8 meters from north to south, with a total area of 3.55 square kilometers. Shanghai Dongping National Forest Park is flat and low-lying, and the soil is slightly alkaline. The forest coverage rate of Shanghai Dongping National Forest Park is about 8%, which is the largest plain plantation in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Forest Park is rich in plant resources, including nearly 1, species of trees, shrubs, vines and aquatic plants, among which there are more than 1 species of medicinal plants alone. In May 1993, Shanghai Dongping National Forest Park was approved as a national forest park by the State Forestry Administration.

2. Chongming Dongtan is located at the easternmost tip of Chongming Island in Shanghai, bordering the mouth of the Yangtze River in the north and south, slowly extending eastward to the vast East China Sea, and facing the north and south continents. Chongming Dongtan Reserve starts from Xijiagang in the south and reaches Bayao Port in the north. It is bounded by the dike built in 1968 in the west and 3m waterline outside the zero meter line at Wusong elevation in the east, which resembles the waters, land and beaches of Chongming Island in the semi-circular waterway line.

3. Chongming County Museum is a county-level comprehensive museum, which was founded in July 1959. The new museum was renovated and opened to the public on December 8, 1999. The museum is located in Chongming Xuegong, a cultural relic protection unit in Shanghai, covering an area of 23.21 mu. The exhibition hall of Chongming County Museum, with a total area of over 2, square meters, is arranged in the Dacheng Hall of Xuegong and the "History of Chongming Island and Ancient Ships" in the East and West Pavilions. It consists of a preface hall and six units, and uses cultural relics, models, sculptures, sand tables, set boxes, pictures and multimedia to truly reflect the formation of Chongming Island and its political, economic, transportation, water conservancy and cultural achievements.

4. Chongming Xuegong is one of the three remaining Xuegong in Shanghai today. The current site, also known as Chongming Museum, is a municipal cultural relics protection unit. Just walk 2-3 meters from Chongming Nanmen Wharf, and you can see the ancient buildings of Xuegong. The two stone pillar archways are simple and calm, and the book says, "Germany matches heaven and earth, and the Taoist crown is ancient and modern."

5. In front of the door are two ginkgo trees with a history of 35 years, which are embraced by three people, and the gatekeepers are a pair of big stone lions, which are magnificent. The largest building in Xuegong is Dacheng Hall, just like the Hall of Heroes in the temple. This is the place where Confucius is sacrificed, and the east and west are the dormitories of 72 high disciples. At present, Dacheng Hall is temporarily used as an exhibition room for ancient ships. The East Hall of Dacheng Hall mainly includes photos and deeds of famous people in Chongming, as well as some ancient artifacts unearthed in Chongming. Xidan is the Huangpimo Art Museum.
