The stone arch bridge in China has a long history. Up to now, stone arch bridges have been built in many places in China. Our city is no exception.

Among them, Pengjiang Bridge is one of the famous stone arch bridges in our city. Pengjiang Bridge is a highway bridge across Jiangmen River. It was built in 1974 and opened to traffic in May 1975. The expansion started on July 26th, 1996 and was completed in February, 1997.

Pengjiang Bridge starts from the south section of Yuejin Road in the north and ends at Qiaonan Road in the south. The total length is 60 1m (including the approach road of 248m). The main bridge has a path of 76m and a width of12m. The sidewalks on both sides of the main bridge are 2 meters wide with zigzag steps at both ends. The clear navigable height of the bridge bottom is 9.5 meters. The characteristics of this bridge are as follows: (1) The whole bridge is 1 1 arch, and the approach road has 9 large arches. The whole bridge (excluding the approach bridge) has a big arch, which spans the north and south banks. 1 1 arch is a composite arch, so Pengjiang Bridge is also a "composite arch stone bridge". The 1 1 arches are arranged from small to large, and then from large to small. From a distance, it looks like a family taking pictures, with tall people standing in the middle and short people standing on both sides. Every arch is like a bow. (2) There are 9 small holes between every two arches. They are like door after door. These holes and arches are seamlessly connected and set off each other. (3) At night, the lighting around the bridge is like the edge of a painting. The lights on the bridge are arranged in two rows, on both sides. Just like the team waiting for the leader to review, Pengjiang Bridge has become more beautiful.

"Pengjiang Bridge" is what we are most proud of: it is a reinforced concrete hyperbolic bridge and the first bridge connecting Jiangmen, Henan and Hebei. The completion of the bridge ended the history of ferry travel on the Jiangmen River and became the hub of north-south transportation. 1995 The maximum traffic volume is 5300 vehicles. After the expansion, our traffic will be more convenient and faster. It has become one of the main bridges between North and South.
