"First there was Wula, then there was Jilin." For me, a native of Jilin, I should go to Wula Street, so I got up early, prepared some snacks for the road, and drove to "Wula Street" with my two sisters.
In Jilin in late August, the heat of summer is slowly receding. Although the splendor of autumn has not yet appeared, the high sky and cool air indicate that autumn is approaching quietly.
The fields along the way are full of vigorously growing crops. Under the sun, you can see that they are making their last efforts to give the people who plant them a golden harvest.
Wula Street was originally called "Wulaga (gai)". "Wula" and "Ga" respectively mean "along the river", township, town and market in Chinese. Together they mean "townships along the river", "ga" and "street".
(pronounced gai in Northeast China)" is homophonic, and later evolved into "Wula Street (gai)". In the 1950s, Mandarin was promoted and pronounced as "Wula Street (jie)".
Wula Street is more than 30 kilometers away from the center of Jilin. The town is adjacent to the Songhua River in the west. It is one of the main birthplaces of the Manchu people. Tracing the history of Jilin should start from Wula Street, because there was Wula first and then Jilin. Now Wula Street still retains
Traditional Manchu customs and many places of interest.
The famous Rime Island is located here.
The earliest city of Wula Street was in the early Ming Dynasty. In the middle of the Ming Dynasty, the Hercynian Jurchens established the Ula Kingdom here. In 1613, Nurhaci destroyed the Ula Kingdom and recharged his energy here to march to the Central Plains and then conquer the world. Therefore, Emperor Shunzhi of the Qing Dynasty decided to
Soon after he moved to Beijing, he closed Wula Street with a radius of 500 miles and respected it as "the holy place of the birth of this dynasty".
In 1657, the Dashou Yamen was established in the ancient city of Wula, making it one of the "four major tribute bases" in the country. By the end of the Qing Dynasty in 1911, the tribute period was 255 years.
Driving into Wula Street, the first thing I saw were rows of tree paper that had been cut into thin slices and were being dried. I guessed they were used to make plywood.
Entering Wula Street, the first and most eye-catching building with a sense of age that you see is the "Ula Street Cinema", but it has been occupied by various stalls.
The ancient ruins on Wula Street that are relatively well preserved include the ancient city of Wulabu, Kui Mansion, Hou Mansion, Sa Mansion, and the Mosque.
Kui Mansion Kui Mansion, the earliest owner of the mansion was named Wang Kuifu, and the local people called him "Kui Master", so he called his house "Kui Mansion".
In 1875, Wang Kuifu went to Yili and was rewarded by Emperor Guangxu. He was promoted to deputy governor, rewarded with gold and silver, returned home in fine clothes, and built a mansion.
The two-entry courtyard building is adjacent to the west side of the Wula Street Town Government. In front of the door is the main east-west access road of Wula Street Town.
When I checked the information before coming here, there was a relief sculpture above the five-star mark on the wall of this house. Why is it gone today?
A corner of the Kuei Mansion courtyard.
Spacious Quebec Courtyard.
The gate of Kuei Mansion was originally red, so why did I make it this color when I photographed it?
Where did the ring on the monster door knocker go?
Houfu The Houfu was built in 1880 as the private residence of Zhao Yunsheng, the 31st general manager of Dashengwula Yamen. It is now basically well preserved.
The Houfu is a two-entry quadrangle with the gate on the east side. It covers a vast area, has grand architectural style and exquisite carvings. It is a typical residence for officials and bannermen. It is the most exquisite workmanship among the Manchu residences of the Qing Dynasty found in Jilin area.
one place.
The courtyard of the rear mansion.
The most exquisite of the three mansions on Wula Street is the Houfu. Looking at the carved beams and painted columns of the Houfu, you can feel the wealth and culture of the owner who lived here at that time.
Safu Safu was built in 1751. It was the private residence of Suozhu, the 13th general manager (fourth grade) of the Dashuula Yamen at that time. It was a typical "two-in-a-siheyuan" pattern in the early Qing Dynasty.
The Sa Mansion is now located in the No. 3 Middle School of Jilin City and is surrounded by iron sheets. We hired staff to peel away the iron sheets before we could enter.
There are bundles of cables stored in the Safu courtyard.
Sit on the cable and take a break.
Now is the corn harvest season. When you see roasted corn, you will naturally want to have some.
Mosque The mosque was built in the 31st year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1692). It is the only remaining temple building on Wula Street.
The gate was locked when we arrived.
The Ancient City of Wulabu The Ancient City of Wulabu is a site from the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
The ancient city has a total area of ??about 900,000 square meters. It is divided into three walls: inner, middle and outer walls. There is a large building platform in the center, and there are moats outside each wall.
Now only the white flower-dot general platform with the Martyrs Memorial Tower built on it, the west wall has disappeared, and the remaining three walls can only be identified by the "mounds" above the ground. The entire ancient city of Ulabu
Overgrown.
The gate of the ruins of the ancient city of Ulabu with a "modern flavor".
The base of the city wall is faintly visible covered with green grass.
Only the stone steps below the former Baihuadian General Platform have been preserved, and a Martyrs Memorial Tower has been built on top.
It was past noon after I finished looking for the ancient buildings on Wula Street, so I came to the 130-year-old "Fengjiyuan Wula Hot Pot Restaurant" in Wula Street Town.
