1. Tonglu folklore: During the Ming Dynasty, two of the most famous figures came out of Tonglu.
One is Yu Jian, known as Yu Dutang, and the other is Yao Kui, known as Yao Tianguan.
It is probably because the people of Tonglu admire these two Tonglu celebrities. In addition to the records in official history, there are also many folk legends about them.
These legends may be true or false, but they have become a unique and charming part of Tonglu's human history.
Today, we will talk about the legend of Yao Kui.
Yao Kui, courtesy name Dazhang, was a Jinshi in the seventh year of Zongzong's orthodoxy in the Ming Dynasty.
Yao Kui ranked first in both the provincial examination and the general examination.
The following year, he was awarded the official title of Shizhong and began his official career until he was the Minister of the Ministry of Personnel.
After Yao Kui's death, he was given to Shaobao and given the posthumous title Wenmin.
Yao Kui has great talents and an open mind.
The court discussed matters that could not be finalized, and Yao Kui immediately decided with one sentence.
When he was in the Ministry of Personnel, he paid great attention to the promotion and appointment of talents, and did not avoid relatives and old friends.
At the beginning, Wang Ao was in charge of the Ministry of Personnel and suppressed the southerners, so the northerners liked him very much.
When he came to Yao Kui, he liked to help southerners, as long as they were rated or recommended by Yao Kui and were more qualified.
When Yao Kui was an official, the then emperor Jingtai was not feeling well. Yao Kui and his ministers went to Shangshu to request that the crown prince of Emperor Yingzong be reinstated.
But it was not recognized.
The next day, Yao Kui originally wanted to lead hundreds of officials to kneel down in front of the palace and plead for the restoration of the crown prince, but Shi Heng and others had already restored the throne to the Supreme Emperor Yingzong and transferred Yao Kui to the Nanjing Ministry of Rites.
Emperor Yingzong of the Ming Dynasty had always known Yao Kui's character very well. Later, when he heard about the discussion of restoring the crown prince, he immediately recalled him with a fast horse and promoted him to Zuo Shilang.
Yao Kui insisted on principles. In the second year of Chenghua, the emperor followed the advice of Shangshu Li Bin and summoned all the students in Nanji and other places: as long as they paid food for famine relief, they could enter the Imperial Academy.
Yao Kui thought this method was inappropriate and petitioned to stop this practice.
Later, there were many strange disasters in various places. Yao Kui Shangshu requested the emperor to often attend the imperial lectures and preside over the rulings on various important government affairs.
Stay close to gentlemen, stay away from villains, save all expenses, cherish utensils, and abide by the established laws and regulations of your ancestors in terms of food, clothing, words and deeds, in order to repay God's will.
After reading it, the emperor deeply agreed and praised Yao Kui.
During the reign of Emperor Xiaozong, the emperor believed in Buddhist monks and some were named Dharma kings and disciples of the Buddha. Their clothing and utensils overstepped their ranks and there were no restrictions.
The traitors envy them and compete to become their accomplices.
Yao Kui tried his best to remonstrate, and the situation subsided slightly.
Yao Kui went through several dynasties. Every time he encountered a strange disaster, he would ask the emperor for relief and compensation, and express his concern and care for the people affected by the disaster.
2. Ancient poems describing Tonglu: Qingxi in Xuancheng (one work goes into Qingxi Mountain) by Li Bai Qingxi is better than Tonglu, and the water and trees are beautiful.
The mountain appearance is high and ancient, and the rocks are tilted to the sky.
The colorful bird has no name in the past, and the white ape has just met.
If you don't see anyone who shares your heart, you will sigh in vain.
Luosuqu Liu Caichun On the day of departure that year, I only went to Tonglu.
The people from Tonglu disappeared, but now I got the book from Guangzhou.
Staying at Tonglu River and sending me an old trip to Guangling. Meng Haoran The mountains are dark and the ape is sad, and the Cangjiang River flows rapidly at night.
The wind rumbles the leaves on both sides of the bank, and the moon shines on a lonely boat.
Jiande is not my homeland, but we should reminisce about old travels.
I will also send two lines of tears to the west of the sea.
Written by Wei Zhuang in Tonglu County. The Qiantang River reaches Tonglu. The water is green and the mountains are not as green as paintings.
White-feathered birds fly over the Yan Zise River, and green grasshoppers fish for seasonal eagle fish.
The reflection in the center of the pool opens and closes, and the idle clouds at the mouth of the valley roll back and relax.
This situation should only be loved by poets, and the writing is empty and mysterious.
Hope it will be adopted.
Thanks.
3. What is the historical origin of the name Tonglu? Let’s start with the old man Tongjun: Speaking of this old man Tongjun, according to the records in "Fang Yu Shenglan": more than 4,000 years ago, this mountain was covered with many tung trees.
There was an old man on the mountain who collected medicine and made elixirs here, and built a thatched house under the tung tree. Because this old man had very good medical skills, he often treated the people down the mountain for free.
So the local people thanked him very much and asked him to leave his name and pass it on to him forever.
When people asked him what his name was, he just smiled and pointed to the big tung tree behind him. Based on his gesture, people called the mountain Tongjun Mountain, and the old man was called Tongjun.
The old man means a gentleman under the tung trees. The town at the foot of the mountain is called Tonglu Town, which means "thatched cottage under the tung trees".
