Shimiaozi was built in the Ming Dynasty to commemorate a hero named Zhang Tianshou.
According to legend, Zhang Tianshou was originally a poor local farmer. In order to change his destiny, he went to Liaodong to participate in the Anti-Japanese War during the Chenghua Period of the Ming Dynasty (1465-1487). He performed well and eventually became a general.
Later, Zhang Tianshou returned to his hometown. In order to commemorate his experience in participating in the Anti-Japanese War, he built a temple in Shimiaozi Village and enshrined his weapons, battle robes and other items in the temple as a memorial.
With the passage of time, Shimiaozi Temple has been repaired and rebuilt many times and has become an important local historical and cultural site.
