5.29 Confucius said, "In a city with ten rooms, there must be people who are faithful as hills, so they are not as eager to learn as hills."
In a small town with only ten families, there must be people who are as honest and honest as Kong Qiu, but not as studious as me. This is Confucius' exclamation that talent is easy to get and learning is rare.
this sentence, once said, is simple and easy to understand. It seems that everyone understands it, and everyone feels that they are almost eager to learn. So you have to come up with a studious standard to see if you are studious. If everyone is eager to learn, how can Confucius have such a sigh? To sum up the standards of sages, Confucius, Mencius, Zisi, Wang Yangming and Zeng Guofan, the most important things are these four:
First, there is a sense of purpose and orientation. The first thing to learn is determination, orientation, clear mission, and no distractions.
the second is the unity of knowledge and practice. The unity of knowing and doing can be decomposed into thinking about things and observing oneself.
third, continuous work day by day, concentration and persistence, and uninterrupted all day.
the fourth is to review the past and gain new knowledge. If you don't review the past, you won't know the new.

Make a speech at night to realize your dream!
writing and speaking make you grow seven times faster!
the more you give, the richer you get!
Today, we will learn the last chapter of the Analects of Confucius.
I have mentioned Gongye's novels many times, which are actually about evaluating characters. From the beginning, I evaluated Confucius' students, later I evaluated officials and scholars, and later I talked about my ambition. So today Kong Old Master Q finally talked about himself.
how did Confucius evaluate himself? Listen to it, but it's meaningful.
Confucius said, "In a city with ten rooms, there must be people who are faithful as hills, so they are not as eager to learn as hills."
it sounds very simple, only a small place for ten families. The city here refers to a small place. Ten-room city, small village and stockade, and later city also refers to county. In this case, it refers to a small village.
loyalty and faith, which we have always admired.
the so-called loyalty means loyalty to people and things, especially to the outside world. For example, loyalty to the country, loyalty to superiors, and loyalty to work.
The so-called letter is actually for yourself. Being honest and trustworthy is the bottom line for being a man.
It's a small place with only ten families. In such a small area, there are people as loyal and trustworthy as me.
everyone will definitely say: impossible, then everyone can be a sage! Listen to the next sentence from Confucius, that is, it is not as easy to learn as Qiu Zhi.
why did Confucius say that?
I think everyone will certainly have a lot of questions. For example, our comrades-in-arms are also very studious and take the initiative to take part in all kinds of studies. Today we will give a speech, tomorrow we will give a voice, and the day after tomorrow we will learn psychology, learn community operation, video number production, etc., and we are also constantly learning.
are we also like Confucius?
why did Confucius think that loyalty and faithfulness, which were valued by everyone, were very general and could be achieved? It was not only Confucius who could do it, but most of us could do it, but everyone who was eager to learn could not.
here, my understanding is that the focus is on "good". Love, like, initiative, enthusiasm as always.
the focus is on initiative and persistence.
Hua Shan summed up the standards of sages, such as Confucius, Mencius, Zi Si, Wang Yangming and Zeng Guofan. Found that there are four easy to learn.
I'll just talk about him. I think what he said is very accurate.
what exactly is studious? Listen carefully and you will find that it is not simple.
the first rule is that the will is directed.
The first thing to learn is to be determined, to have a clear mission and no distractions, and to succeed.
In the university, it is said: Stop worrying.
Zhi Zhi will decide later, then he can be quiet, then he can be quiet, then he can be safe, then he can think about it, and then he can get it.
This is the whole process of learning, the first Zhi Zhi.
That is to say, we should have a definite aim and know what we do, and we should have a boundary when we act, stop at that boundary, move in our own direction, not be impetuous and not be tempted by opportunities, so that we can concentrate on our own learning.
that is, the goal here is what we achieved, for example, the other side as Buddhism said. This point must be emphasized.
I have been particularly impressed by my study in the past two or three years, and that's the point. If we just learn, just learn blindly, without a clear goal, we will easily get confused.
It's interesting and interesting to learn. Once you learn, you don't know why you learned, so you slowly let go. Once your interest passes, your enthusiasm passes, there will be no more.
That is, I have no goal, and I don't know what I am studying for. Just content with learning this process, and didn't really want to achieve such a result.
For example, when we learn voice and go to the voice training camp, how many people really practice it every day and turn it into a real good voice?
We study public speaking. How many people really use public speaking as their daily life?
We practice calligraphy. How many people can really practice it well? Keep working towards the goal. If we don't reach the goal, shall we stop? This is very critical.
If we don't have our own goals and just want to succeed, we will feel that there are opportunities everywhere. This is good, I want to study, that is good, I want to do it.
the result is uncertain in direction and goal, and finally it just flows in the process of learning, but no result is obtained.
I didn't get the result. You are good at learning, but you are good at learning. Where is the result?
In the previous chapter, I talked about Confucius' ambition. The old people are safe with it, the friends believe it, and the young people are pregnant with it.
He wants to educate the world with his thoughts, so he can go from place to place and travel around the world, hoping to get the appointment of a king of a country, display his ambition, prove his theory is correct and feasible with practice, and really be able to seek happiness for the whole world.
His ambition is to save China, not to be promoted and get rich. If the promotion is to do this thing, not to be an official, he will go to see Nanzi in order to get an appointment in defending the country, not to seek fame and fortune, but to realize his political views.
Zilu didn't want to, and said, Teacher, Nanzi has a bad style. She is a famous Yan Ji, a demon queen. What do you mean by going to see her?
Confucius was questioned by Zilu and felt humiliated, so he swore that if I did something I shouldn't do, God would punish me. It can be seen that Confucius is also quite cute!
In order to carry out his own political opinions, Confucius actually gave up a lot of things, that is, he longed for an opportunity, but he never gave up his ambition and political opinions. In the end, although he didn't get much fame and fortune, he worked as a sheep herder, but he also gained knowledge and passed it on to future generations, becoming a teacher for generations to come.
let's think about it, we should all be studious. But have we really reached this standard, have a clear goal and a firm direction? Please think about this.
the second is the integration of knowledge and practice.
The unity of knowledge and action is emphasized by Wang Yangming, and now it can be said to be the representative of Wang Yangming's mind.
it can be divided into thinking about things and observing oneself.
By thinking about things, I mean going to school on specific things and going to middle school every day.
we don't mean that only reading is called learning, but as Confucius said: if you have spare capacity, you can learn literature. Do things before reading.
even if you read a book, you should practice it on specific things and learn from it. Learning is input, so you must learn, that is, practice, practice and repeat until you turn others' into your own.
In fact, we can't learn simply by reading books. We have to verify it in practice before we can find out the problems, and then we can come back and solve them. Finally, we can change others' books into our own. We wonder if this is the case.
Chairman Mao emphasized many times in "On Practice" that after learning, you should act, after acting, you should think, after thinking, you should study, think and act again. In short, it is spiraling upward.
Everything you have learned must be put to use and verified in practice.
The same book, the same sentence, tastes different when spoken by different people. Why? It is because some people practice it, such as Kong Old Master Q, Chairman Mao, Meng Jie and Uncle Cat. To tell the truth, it is particularly infectious and influential.
some people seem to be airy and unconvincing when they speak.
people who never get up early say it's great to get up early. I won't believe you if you list 111 benefits. Because you sleep until twelve o'clock all day, do you think it's interesting to get up early? Know and do in one.
that's why Wang Yangming emphasized that knowing but not doing it means not knowing.
our comrades-in-arms, we seem to know a lot of truth. Have we taken any action? Have you achieved the unity of knowledge and action? Think about this piece.
the third is continuous work day by day, focusing on persistence and uninterrupted all day.
At this point, Zeng Guofan is a very good example, and he particularly emphasized this point. Learning must be continuous day by day, and there must be no interruption for one day.
You can't say that I'm busy today, so I'll make up my lessons tomorrow. You can't say that I'm not busy today. You can't finish tomorrow's class ahead of time, or you can't go out these days and do it when you come back. You should take your homework with you and finish it at the hotel at night. Without constant persistence, you can't really learn well.
Having said that, I especially agree with you. This is the real fundamental reason why I said that we must work day by day and do it.
111% persistence is easier than 99%. Why? Because after you have this idea in your heart, you will do it every day, and you will not make any excuses for yourself. It's not that it's enough to complete 99%. It doesn't matter today, it doesn't matter tomorrow, and it won't matter the day after tomorrow. In the end, you will find that your data can't be read, and it doesn't matter that you give up in the end.
if you can't persist for a long time, you won't get any real results.
At this point, Hua Shan is very good. He has written several books, interpreting the Analects of Confucius, Sun Tzu's Art of War, and so on. He did it every day for 365 years.
Sister Meng publishes a book every year. Her 11th book published this year also gets up in the morning, writes it every morning, and publishes a book every year. It's just that powerful. Big brother is also constantly working day by day. If we keep doing this, it won't be bad.
if you can really do the day shift after listening to the third item we talked about today, then you are amazing. Therefore, we must truly recognize it from the bottom of our hearts and do it.
the fourth is to review the past and gain new knowledge.
why do you want to review the past and learn something new? That is, we should not always think about learning new things, but always think about pursuing new things and seeking speed.
because there are many temptations outside. It's good for you to listen to this person's things, and that person's things are also good. Everyone needs to learn. I can't wait for my heart to itch, just like seeing a beautiful woman and looking at it as much as possible. When I see food, I want to taste it.
However, I always want to learn new things. Have you mastered what you have learned? If we don't master what we have learned, we will throw it away after learning. For example, we read one book a day. Now many people emphasize reading one book a day. After reading this book, we feel very good and good. Then we read the second book the next day. On the third day, we ask what we read on the first day, but we can't remember anything. After reading this book, we will never touch it again for a year or even ten years. So how much can you remember?
just like a monkey breaking corn, you broke the new one and threw away the old one, so why did you break it?
that's why Confucius said that reviewing the past and learning new things can be a teacher.
when we learn something, we must pay attention to it. We should not learn for the sake of novelty, but try our best to use it after learning. If we find that we have not mastered it, we should review it more, review it and understand it many times, so that we can really master it deeply. Become your own, and then we will pursue new knowledge, remember not to become a mere formality.
Take writing as an example. For example, I just finished copying the Tao Te Ching yesterday, and according to Zhao Mengfu's post, I'll come one word at a time, one chapter at a time.
after each writing, I have to look at the whole again and again. My handwriting is not neat enough as a whole, and it is a little off-center, or the center of gravity is on the left, or the center of gravity is on the right, or on the upper or lower side.
what about the spacing? This is for word to word, row to row, column to column.
there's this word, for example. how about its strokes? The horizontal line should be slightly inclined, and the result is even, or it is written down. This stroke is not long enough, this vertical line is not straight enough, this month's word, the moon's moon, the ratio of the left side and the right side is not good, and so on. See what the problem is, and write it well before writing.
We should make a little progress in this word, make progress every day, and improve every day, so that we can write better and better ourselves, otherwise, if you write so much all day, what's the use of writing it ten million times? Still like that.
I have just talked about the four criteria listed by Hua Shan that ancient sages are eager to learn, that is, having a definite purpose, integrating knowledge with practice, making continuous efforts every day, and learning new things by reviewing old ones.
I hope everyone can compare and see if they are a studious person. If we can all do it, then you are not far from the realm of Kong Old Master Q.
It's time, and today's interpretation of this chapter is over. The whole novel of Gongye is over. Starting from tomorrow, we will interpret the next article called Yong Ye.
what exactly is one article about? Let's talk about the first chapter.
Confucius said: harmony can also make the south.
Is there a future?
