I object to what the previous photographer said, you don’t necessarily need a flash.
You can take steaming food photos by doing the following three things,
1. Backlighting or side backlighting,
2. Take pictures as soon as the food is served and steaming. This also ensures that the food is photographed in its best condition. The longer you wait, the less likely it will be. Appetite, vegetables will wilt, and meat will turn black and lumpy. If you don’t take the picture in time, spray some steam or put some dry ice to take the steam.
3. The background must be dark to highlight the heat, because The back of the hot air is white. If the background is also white, you cannot see it.
4. The shutter speed should be fast. If it is slow, it will turn into a white mist.
