According to legend, this folk activity began in the Ming Dynasty and was a large-scale folk art activity during the Lantern Festival in the southwest mountainous area of Wu 'an. "Yellow Ghost" refers to an evil madman who commits crimes, is unfaithful, unfilial and even kills his parents. There are more than 100 performing roles, which are divided into three aspects: human, world and hell. The gods are Jade Emperor, Judge, GREAT GHOST, Two Ghosts, Three Ghosts and Tanma. The "yellow ghost" usually plays a beggar, wears underwear, paints his hair and body yellow, and has a knife inserted into the meat on his limbs. Bloody and trembling, he became the target of arrest and execution in the whole scene. The performance of "Catch the Yellow Ghost" started at two o'clock in the morning. First, it was patrolled by GREAT GHOST, Kid and Detective Ma. After dawn, the Jade Emperor appeared and arranged various tasks. At noon, Yan came, arranged the trial hall, and arrested Huang Ghost with two ghosts and three ghosts and sentenced him. The whole performance lasted until the evening.
