Shiqiu Lake and Shijiu Lake are not in the same place. One is in Lishui, Nanjing, and the other is in Gaochun, Nanjing.

Shiqiu Lake is located at the junction of three districts and one county, Lishui District and Gaochun District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, and Dangtu County, Bowang District, Ma'anshan City, Anhui Province. The western part of the lake is connected to the Qingyi River, Shuiyang River and Guxi River, the tributaries of the Yangtze River. Hubei is connected to the Qinhuai River through the Tianshengqiao River. It is a lake in the Yangtze River Basin. Among them, Shuiyang River is its main water source and Guxi River is the main drainage channel.

Shijiu Lake and Gucheng Lake are adjacent and are both part of the ancient Danyang Lake. The largest area is more than 200 square kilometers. Belonging to bicarbonate calcium group II water, the lake has multiple functions such as irrigation, flood storage, shipping and breeding. The lake area is rich in natural resources, among which the "Three Treasures" such as whitebait, crab, and wild duck are the most famous. Shijiu Lake is praised as "a dou of gold at sunrise and a dou of silver at night". However, due to uncontrolled fishing, precious species such as whitebait have disappeared by the beginning of the 21st century at the latest. "Shijiu Fishing Song" is one of the forty sceneries of New Jinling.
